You're talking about sense of humour, fine, having a sense of humour comes into a lot of things.

Simply put, Mir is a social game, can be a family game if the community wasn't atrocious, the idea is, it's public, you watch what you say in public or you get judged, I'm sure somebody felt strongly enough to report bad behaviour or offensive names, and as a business they need to keep the customer happy, especially if what they're asking isn't unreasonable because the idiot behind a keyboard decided to call himself JihadJohn or something along those lines.

If you act like a tw*t and you get pulled up on it, accept the consequences, sick of all the moaning on this thread about the GMs sense of humour, it's a business plain and simple, so deal with it.

1: Ok so, They find the time to ban people in this business for having a laugh, but cant find the time to add an easter event to attract back old members and maybe some new? mighty fine business.

2. Mir is social if your in the same guild (90% of cases) other than that , there's keyboard warriors and gangsta's all over the place talking trash daily, just picked mampi out because what he was trolling about is relevant irl atm .

Feel sorry for any1 to small minded to take a joke for what it is....a joke... you dont find it funny dont laugh and slide your ass along.

Sticks and stone's ladies and gents ....sticks and fkin stones.

This is a private server for a start. Illegally set up mind, but private - like private land where there are different rules to public areas.

I'm white British. I'm sure ISIS would happily target me to be locked up and executed - which is why I'm entitled to laugh at the doughnuts. If I were a pro ISIS muslim that genuinely believed in what Jihad John is doing, or if I were actually recruiting for a terrorist organisation - it would be a completely different matter.

In the same respect that it's 'ok' for black people to make black jokes, but not for a white person to. Even if it's the same joke, some people wouldn't find it funny from a person who could be anti black. It's not possible for me to be pro-ISIS, they hate the likes of me, would like to kill me - and I laugh at them because of it.

I would encourage people to take a look at this article;

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/women/wo...ve-enough-to-laugh-at-Isil-You-should-be.html

"Satire, though, has been largely overlooked as a weapon in our arsenal against Isil - partly because of the current climate of fear following the Charlie Hebdo and Copenhagen murders. Few today would criticise satirists for self-censorship or opting for anonymity when they produce work that parodies this murderous cult."

But the GM here thinks that saying it on mir is the same as saying it in the street.. As though the anonymity is irrelevant. What a pillock..

It is in fact the supporters of ISIS that want censorship on this kind of humor. I honestly believe my joke character and recruitment claims were a lot more anti ISIS than banning the account.

Truth be told, it is almost certainly a personal issue with the GMs. I have spoken out about them in the past, and they hold a grudge evidently. They would like to pretend they appear professional because they are making money from a game that they had zero input in the development and production of. Taking financial credit for the work of Wemade entertainment. Were I a large donating community member, and less critical - I doubt my account would have been banned. This will almost certainly be denied, but all evidence points towards this. Using the 'we find these terrorists too disgusting' mask is an easy and 'politically correct' one to put on, supposedly giving themselves the higher ground by default.

I don't expect them to un ban the account, because they feel 'too proud' to back track now - and again have a track record of messing things up then denying it. (drops at last easters event for example)

I suggest the team back this new policy up by banning/renaming all character names that may be deemed offensive. If this isn't the road they plan on taking then perhaps they should rethink what was obviously a rash decision, unban his account, give a server wide warning along with stating these new rules that nobody has been made aware of until now when a person gets an account wide ban with no prior warning for something that would be considered a joke by the masses.

Speaks volumes that bug exploitation and cheating is just frowned upon, warnings given and characters unbanned. Game breaking/effecting issues. Yet a name, which doesn't effect the gameplay, can be easily ignored, results in a ban.

It's obvious what is most important to the team.

Yes I agree. If your banning people on offensive names these new rules need to be announced and made clear to everyone. If your banning on bad humour and trolling then you'd have to ban 75% of the player base.

Realistically taking a stance like this now over a year into the servers life is going to cause a sh!t storm for the team in terms of having to deal with reports and the like. I tried making a point with my last thread in regards to this and it seemed to be ignored. What characters are safe? For example; A new person joins the server & sees my character and reports me due to his father becoming addicted to porn, cheating on his mother and in result leaving his entire family in ruins.. then what? Should I be banned for that? According to these new rules there is no doubt about it, I should be. What about ToriBlack, same story? It could get ridiculous if censorship is taken too seriously.

I'm in no position to tell the team how to run their server but this is obviously something that should be given a second thought.

There not going to take this stance.

Pretty sure this is a one time thing against this individual for whatever reason.

Makes no sense at all.

seems like more of a personal thing to me than anything else. end of the day mir isnt a family game anymore its for adults mostly and plenty of names irl abuse has been ignored but this is where the line is drawn ??.

The fact you're comparing Jihadi John (you dumb ****s couldn't even get it right to start) to a pornstar, or terrorism to addiction, negates your entire argument.

Indeed but that wasn't Wond's argument.

Yes. Personally I would have had name censorship in from day one. No swear words, nothing. It's just unnecessary, you don't get it in other games.

But this is all by the by, it has clearly been explained that this ban came about due to a combination of things, not just his name.

Just to clarify.

If he had made a guild called ISIS, you think this have been ok ?

Surely its sticks and stones.... if this was a year or 2 down the line not 1 eyelid would have been batted.

Pretty childish situation.

Who knows? It seems the gamemasters make up these rules as they go along.
