woop finally going to get pinterpet back at home but i need 2 get a landline 1st lol anyway, I have f/a time to search etc for myself so what's the best ISP in the UK?

Keeping in mind the following:

i live in a bush somewhere in suffolk
need a fairly fast connection (permitting my bush isn't too rural)
don't want a download limit if i'm gonna be on games + such
and cheap ofcourse
+ reliable!

so basically the usual.
who's best?

Whatever you do - don't get TalkTalk, I had it for the past year and it's been nothing but... well... it's ****ing ****.

BT are good for reliability and speed I hear - as are AOL; my friend has that and has had no problems as far as I know.

If you go to the speedtest website it has a program which shows the Top 30, I think...

That's the bugger, just have a spladge through those.

Says on there that the best BT connection is 8MB, Unlimited Download, 18 Month Contract and that's £18.99 (that's £19.00 for the fools who are tricked by the 99p!)

Hell no, download limit is what it says - what you download.

You can only download up to 8GB p/m on Opt. 2 for example - unless you're downloading numerous MMO's you won't need unlimited.

nah it'd be mainly mir tbh. i'd probs try out a couple of others after i got bored with mir but...

i'd obv need to download a lot of crap just to play a server since i dont even have mir installed anymore. now idk how big files are or anything anymore im a total novice again.

Is 8GB a lot? Or atleast enough?

I just remember last time when I used to play (now we're going back several years) but we had a d/l limit on our BT package (cnt remember what it was) but I do remember getting numerous calls from BT saying I've gone over the limit n therefore not being able to use the net and I don't want that to happen.

so would u reccomend 2 or 3?

3 - better safe than sorry I say. For the sake of £5.00 it's well worth it I'd say.

A full mir client is usually approximately 600MB - a gigabyte is 1000MB. Although Mir Clients can vary in size - alot, the big servers usually have a bigger client because they include alot more.

As I say, what's £5.00 for the sake of changing 8GB to UNLIMITED - you could download as many mir clients as you want that way :P

By the way, I'm frowning on you for playing mir right now.

Yeah I guess you're right. Although £5 is a ****ing lot to me at the mo lol. I'm "sifting through offers" shall we say?

anyway i will probs opt for the 3rd and plus u get a free phone! gay.

btw how much is it after the first 6months lol?

and why the frown? i havent played in years. I won't be playing mir for ages yet i need a new pc first. and before that i need a new car and also need to find a job to pay for it.

That's ok then, as long as it's not a long term relationship - MDPL (mir destroys peoples lives). I almost failed my GCSE's because of it.

Ouch, £24.99 thereafter. Don't suppose you'll get it much cheaper though if you want an OK connection.

I think I tried WoW but got bored of it in the first 5 minutes lol.

I remember when I was in Middle School I used to get extremely excited just to go home and play, even on 56k modem lol - the excitement of getting online and playing with my RL mates was immense. Old School mir ftw!!! Hunting WT at level 17 and getting floored :P

lmao brings a tear to my eye. was exactly the same for me. couldn't concentrate in lessons i was constantly day dreaming about mir its so ****ing sad in retrospect. haha.

well i resorted to playing EQOA on the ps2 after i quit mir. even though it was half as good and hardly many ppl on it was still addictive. then i got an NTSC ps2 and joined the US server cos the UK 1 shut n it had loads more ppl on.

anyway in response to ur other post. i have a mum too but she's a ****in pikey and doesnt pay for anythin anymore. we dont even have a house phone lol

Not even a house phone? Jeez that must blow - how old are you? because I'm only 16 (17 in a week, tooties!) which could have something to do with it.

We used to sit in Geography just talking about mir and what we were going to do when we got on! I used to always be the best out of all my mates because I spent HOURS playing - cost my parents a small fortune on dial-up. I can remember disconnecting in WT KR and almost attempting to take a **** on my keyboard.

Do you have a beard and a friend called wilson who's actually a football?

My brothers 18 and he doesn't have to pay for jack **** - I have a small amount of empathy for you, the internet is my life. It's off at my house at the moment though and has been for the past 3 ****ing weeks! TalkTalk sucks the hairy balls of a garrison, I'd quite happily castrate the owner of TalkTalk and present his testicles on a pole in the centre of London.

I'm at my grans at the moment by the way, that's how I'm on - she has BT and I can download full movies in like 2 hours with usenet.

2 ****ing years??? Good god.

I was referring to Castaway. I guess I wasn't very clear - if you haven't seen it the joke won't make sense at all.
