Laptop Time

Right well heres the deal, I'm wanting a laptop so I can take it to my g/f's with me etc as she has no PC anyone suggest any fairly good price decent specc'd ones about? It will be used to play WoW mostly atm

Or even if I can get a better spec desktop computerfor cheaper then throw me some links

Well if you have an old pc case, monitor, hdd and psu laying about this is what i upgraded my little bros pc to for WOW

Very good value for money as the CPU alone costs around 50-70 quid.

The on board graphics are fine for wow infact it runs better than my 256mb gfx card.

If your gonna go ahead with a laptop make sure you fully look into reviews about the laptop first as we all know wow will over heat a rubbish laptop after a short time.

Also stear clear of AMD cpu`s they are not what they used to be!

I'm in my mum's house just now and I just said to her our computer could be so much better if you were just to buy this and she's like I'll half in with you for it so thats me going to get that for the desktop PC at my house.

That is a very nice laptop espeically for the price, I'll see what other oens people post on here before making a decision though, although it does look very tasty. Under graphics type it says it is Shared, does that just mean it's onboard?

Erm yeh most laptops have shared memory and that mother board bundle is awesome i was really jelous when i upgraded my little brothers pc with that. It made it a hell of alot faster than anything i own Well worth the cash mate. Guarenteed you and your family will be alot happyer useing the pc :P

Well I'm just ordering that bundle just now. On my current computer I have, AMD Athlon 3500+ 1Gb Ram (But I don't know what kind is there a way to check?) Sapphire Radeon X800XL 256mb GCard.

Now Obviously I'll have to take all of this out when replacing with the bundle would it be possible to use the GCard or would the onboard be better? Also would it be possible to put the old RAM in with that aswell if it is the same type?

Nah you wont need to put the old ram in as itll be different speeds, I dont advise it anyway youl end up having problems in the end, the 2gb ram is pretty good speed tbh. erm u can put ur gfx card in there if its PCI as the mobo has a pci slot you may want to test the onboard gfx though as it ran alot smoother with the onboard graphics for my little bro.

Oh yeh when it gets delivered its 2 seprate parcels, they sent me just the mobo and ram first i was like OMG phoned them up *where is my cpu and cpu fan blah blah* then they was like it will be with you tomorrow lol ¬_¬ got abit owned there lol. Just to warn you though as it pissed me off i thought they was riping me off ^ ^

Nice! thats pretty lucky tbh the mobo is really small, i had to extend my power buttons cable for it to reach to where it had to go (the only down side to it) You may not have to do this i think its more of a case fault than the mobo itself.

No problem mate, Thats what i post here for! Let me know if you have any problems with it ill try help you out, Make sure you install the drivers cd too, my windows 7 said that it had all automaticly installed so i didnt install them, Then my little bro had a few issues playing wow, So i then installed the drivers off the cd that came with the bundle and it works a charm.

Definatly considering upgrading my desktop to this once i start working again.

We use the R519's at work, very nice laptops and not had any come back in yet with any problems.

Not sure on how good they are when it comes to gaming though. Nice widescreens on them too.

Nice skyline iv always wanted one for general use,

Graig i can write you a quick breif on how i done mine.

Ok so you have your bundle open it up, The first thing your going to do is carefully as possible dismantle your old pc ( unpluged from the wall then inside the case unplug all the power cables attached to components. Secondly remove the cd/dvd IDE cables form the case keep your hard drive in there just unscrew the mother board with a small screw driver.

Once you got that case empty apart from the PSU (power supply unit) the cd/dvd drive and your hard drive, ok now gently handly your new mother board. I would advise cliping the single peice of 2gb ram in first, Put this in the slot closest to the CPU, Then unpack your CPU and fan, now open the cpu bracket take out the CPU cover throw that away put your cpu in then clip the bracket back down to hold it in place. Now grab the fan that came with the cpu, It will already have Thermal tape on it so no need to worry about that. Gently ease the fan ontop of the CPU make sure you line up the holes for the fan to clip onto the mother board. Make sure all 4 of the little clips pop out the other side of the mother board so the fan is secure. Now your ready to screw the mother board in your case. Once you have carefully done that, Attach the SATA cable in the slot with 1 above it. connect that to your hard drive.

Now connect your Dvd rom back up to the mother board. Ok so the final thing is to connect the power leads back up. To start with find the little ATX i think its called lead that goes onto the mother board quite close to the CPU. Then attach your main motherboard 24 pin power cable also to the motherboard, connect the sata power lead to your hard drive.

Now take the manual out of the box, Look for the page which explains which pins on the mother board do. Find where you connect your Power button and connect that, You may also have sound and usb slot son the fornt of your case again look in the manual it will tell you exactly where to put it.

Now boot it up and install the drivers on the cd.

I think that just about covers it mate if theres anything i missed and you get stuck on give me a shout, will reply asap.
