There is clearly an issue in your environment... You have been posting regarding lag outs and lag that no one else is experiencing which is a clear indicator that there is an issue with the connection from your client to the server.

I guess we could schedule a team view and try and track it down, but it could literally be anything, including hardware.

I can see your point Samuel but i play 3 different servers and this is the only one that drops my connection

i have tried 3 systems 4 different connections a virtual system with windows XP on it, onboard lan wireless lan and a pci ethernet card, even tried using a proxy server to change my ip address.
the origional issue i had was sorted when i went to my wireless connection but since 1 AM this morning i have been getting lagged out yet i know its not my connection as im streaming films as well and they dont drop out..

I have a 120 meg connection so my connection can cope easily with streaming and mir

Since 1 AM this morning I on the lagout i try logging back in and i just get a connecting to server message hang on screen and i have to exit again and load game once again to sort dont know for sure but unless something serverside was done this morning and i just need to update my DAT file again then I dont know whats causing it

uninstalled the whole game and reinstalled it now see if that helps

Have you done a tracert to the server?

May be worth doing to make sure nothing is being dropped/timed out prior to reaching the server.

I've had really bad lag since day one. I've not received any help regarding it either. It's definitely an issue with the client and certain hardware, because every other server i've tried, I've had no issues at all, Just this server.

I also tried Hotspot shield to see if it is connection related, but it made no difference. Which isn't surprising as I don't believe its an issue related to out internet connections. It has to be some kind of bug in the client with certain hardware. I personally believe it's related to nvidia hardware.

While the tracert don't show anything wrong both of you use VirginMedia, checking with a few others who use VM.

It's really hard for us to work out the issue.

I test on about 7 different machines, all different specs, from old specs to new and never had an issue.

3 Different internet connections, and again, no issues.

i use VirginMedia at home, too.

I time out at 12 but don't have any issues with lag, 9 is wher it hits the datacentre.

With Sky? IP seems to change at midnight every night for me which causes me to lag out

Heres a video to show you how bad the lag is on a regular basis. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9gBUXpeQ5U

Just so you know, the video is of how my laptop performs. My desktop machine doesn't experience this issue. Which is the only reason I've been able to play so far. Still doesn't explain whats going on though because my friends laptop is considerably lower spec than mine, but doesn't have this problem. His laptop uses an intel graphics chip though, mine uses nvidia. My 3rd friend who plays, also has this issue, and his laptop is better than mine. Co-incidentally, he also has an nvidia graphics chip in his laptop.

Im also back home now, so I'll show you a tracert on my BT infinity connection

for the record: you're all focusing on network lag
while the youtube video is showing it's pc lag instead :p
example:
at 0:28 you can see how you get 'stuck', yet all the other things on your screen are also stuck (like that tao's masshealing cast)
if it was an internet issue then only you could get stuck.
basicaly for some reason your pc/client stops updating your display for a few frames (dont ask me why :p)

Im thinking the same thing. Im 99% certain it has nothing to do with internet connection. The client obviously hasn't been coded to work properly on some nvidia chipsets

---------- Post Merged at 11:22 PM ---------- Previous Post was at 11:21 PM ----------

out of curiosity guys do you both use nvidia forceware ethernet connections in the computer ?

not sure what you mean by ethernet... the issue doesn't have anything to do with network connections, but yes, im using nvidia hardware in my laptop, which im pretty sure has some kind of incompatibility with this client.
