It would just make for more hassle and more work. People already pointing out loop holes and possibilities for sneaky stuff.
If its poss to let everyone log in with these account ID n pass so they can keep names that would be great.
Seems no one minds starting again as objections are about unfairness exploits and changes you made in response to silly stats exploits and daft things(like being able to TU bosses) in this old ace version.
Thanks Sam for bein willing to start again.
Hope you can find game managers to deal with everything that goes on ingame and help you stay free to concentrate on coding.

It all depends on the db type used, if it's access/sql it's simple enought to spir out data leaving only what you want.

as an alternative, why not have everyone who plays in the 1st week of launch get some small bonus, for example. That way its just a "returning player bonus" instead of for only those who were lvl 40+

I dont see why those who exploited and can be on many hours are rewarded. I dont see why high level sold chars should be rewarded

Which isn't the problem, if you're not 40 you don't get the package, no matter how close you were lol.

But, I still think it should be scrapped. Lots of people won't have had time to log on to add their name to the list despite been over 40.

That's their problem, don't have time to log on? Don't get it. Was Level 39 and 99%, don't get it.

It probably won't be anything good, which is why it would be easier and better to just leave it out imo. My name's on the list, so doesn't effect me but I just think it would save a lot of aggro.

Well maybe the bonus starting package is just something totally not special.
And being a player who was level 40+ yu put some time in it's nice to be rewarded for such.
If you didn't logg in at the time it probably ment that you did not care thus if you are going to complain it's your own fault.
and people leveling new chars to reach level 40 before server went down is like the weirdest thing ever.
I don't even remotely want to hear those whine cause they didn't get level 40 cause the gift is a sortof way to apologize for people who put their time in the server. but no people hear oh free item when reset lets boost char so we get it too.
The gift wasn't made for this^.
