Obviously it speeds my gameplay up so I don't 2 step otherwise I wouldn't have used it now, would I? wisecrack

A packet editor wouldn't achieve this as jest0r12 has already said.

Use vmware and Windows xp (tiny xp) edition. Been working great for...well been using since Euro works even better on mir3.

Packet editors are designed to do what they say on the tin. Edit packets. There is nothing a packet editor can do to improve speed, except perhaps shorten the packet size, which would make the data incomprehensible anyway.

These programs are for the use of manipulating client to server activities and nothing more.

to those with latency issues use a program such as wtfast to reduce your ping, this should help speed up you lagg issues

Samuel could you please inbox me as I can't inbox you but require some help, earlier on in this thread you stated that this could be caused by windows xp, well I have chronicles on both of my PCs and both also run the same version of xp yet one lags like a biatch and the other runs like a whippit with a bum full of dynamite ..... Both similar spec on a solid connection etc .... Considering putting vista on the laggy PC to see if this helps but if I could pick your brains about it first rather then unneccesarily formatting my PC that would be great :)

Forgot to mention it is also not ping related as I have a ping speed of 30

Packet editing can make it possible to sped the game up by forcing the sending of packets thus lowering delays I between skills or walking. But the speed hack check should pick this up.

Sorry to butt in mid-threat, but I've got the same issue as the original person who started the thread. 2 step lag, but it's not lag, it goes away when I don't have any mobs on screen/on map. The last mir 2 server I played ran fine on my VISTA laptop, but I got the same 2 step lag problem when I tried to run it on the Windows 7 desktop. I now don't have the laptop so playing on the desktop is the only option.

I'm not a techy but the desktop is less than 18 months old and I can play graphically demanding online games like SWTOR without any issues. So I don't think spec is the issue here.

I've just done a speed test (www.speedtest.net) my ping is 8ms, down speed is 20 meg, up is 1 meg. Could the low up speed the culprit here? (bearing in mind when I was playing the last mir 2 server both my down and up speed were significantly worse and i didn't have any issues). I still live in the same place and have the same ISP.

Any help would be much appreciated since I'm gagging to actually be able to have a good old fashioned level grinding session.

To be honest, why are you worrying about fps? its not gonna make you move faster, theres not a lot to process gfx, and its not like it needs to be done for fast reactions like in FPS games, I would only worry about fps if its below 15fps. (30fps is fine to play first person shooters...)

Only thing that really effects you gameplay would be your ping, so a service like WTFast should help you out.
or mayb its just the game engine needing optimizing better....

For the people using packet editors or "tweaking" for better speeds........... I spit on you all! dirty cheats, people like you have ruined mir over the years...... and non of you are truthful.
Try playing legitimately and fully update everything and get with the times and im sure you will have no problems like the majority of us.

What kind of services and background programs should I be turning off? I keep my PC pretty clean so don't really have that many non-essential things running...

run>msconfig- enter turn off everything ur computer doesnt need to run

my computer has 12 process runnin total will im on mir, and im sure theres ppl with less.

change all ur visual settings to performance

change your screen resolution

get tcp optimizer to make the most of ur internet

clean ur reg from error's

theres alot of **** u can do thats just some. also as a few ppl have suggested wtfast will definately help ur gaming smoothness and well worth the doe, altho i currently do not have it as hadn't played much mir lately until chronicals opened.

That wtfast seems funny to me. The only way to make it work is for them to have direct routes to the server instead of normal people having the info jump from all kinds of random servers. Never needed it though so not going to try it.

EDIT - wtfast doesn't do anything the game should see as against the rules or packet editing. It just routes the info more efficiently if what I have read is correct. Basically it's a more direct route to the server.

All I can say is be careful everyone I have now been banned for trying to get the maximum of 60fps using a boost program which didn't even work lol I have paid a high price and Samuel has put his foot down and won't unban me, think twice all I can say I've lost out

if you get banned for wtfast then somethings wrong because no game should ban you for this you are doing nothing wrong all it does is sends your connection down the fastest route much like PingZapper etc there is many programs like this available
