I used Boot Camp Assistant to dual-boot windows onto a Mac. It was probably 6-7 years old at that time and the fan would get extremely hot after five ten minutes of playing. Wasn't worth it in the end. Could have been an issue with my Mac though and YMMV.
Sounds like the choice of virtualisation platform is arbitrary and the real learning is going to start once you get going with your project.
Just pick one. They're both means to an end. I use Virtual Box on Mac, and I use VMWare at work (Windows), or QEMU on Linux boxes.

What's the idea behind the fishing system as it's currently implemented? What's stopping me from making 10-20 accounts and fishing safely in my GT 24/7 (Apart from OBS teleporting in and pking us hhhhhhhh)? Assuming I can afford bait, which wouldn't be difficult due to the amount of gems...
