this has been asked 20 million times.. its a sound driver problem.. your pc is missing the audio drivers.. u must download them and install them
Or your Windows Audio Service is not started.
Goto Control panel -> Admin Tools -> Services, On the list search for windows audio and Start.

you don't need speakers...
you need to have at least an onboard sound card (all comps have it nowadays) the back of your computer has line in, line out, mic in (green blue pink) jacks.
you need the audio service to be running. (and maybe a little speaker icon in the system tray)

try going into device manager (right click my computer -> properties)
and see if the list has any ? or !
try update driver with windows update
if windows update can't find it, you have to download the driver...
easier if you know the brand of your computer or motherboard.

open the case.. read the model of your motherboard.. go onto the support brand website of your motherboard and download the audio drivers for your motherboard
look for example this image.. u can read asus on it and it's his brand and p5kr which is the model name
