well, in general usb modems suck, and 10/100 is always better. u do have a virus scanner? there have been some sneaky stuff that is almost undetectable. i had a duron 1.3 system and it said it was connected to the network fine everything looked ok couldnt find out what was wrong becus it couldnt connect to net and other comps. ended up just reformatting and it fixed it all. id recommend panda antivirus very nice

The problem could lie with BT, if you live near manchester you could experience some trouble as one of there main cable lines caught fire.

Or, you could be having what i'm having .. BT wish to save money and will d/c anyone they see fit.

lol blam.

Get AOL and a 56k modem. Extremly reliable ;)

Knock it all you want, but I used AOL when I didn't have any ISP (i used the trials). I could keep connections up for weeks.. AOL is not that unreliable, and it was realitively good connection speed too (46.2kbps (4.62Kbytes/s).

Thx for ya support but the problem just stopped.

It wouldnt bother me if i knew what was wrong and i knew how to fix but it just vanished which is quite frustrating. anyway atleast i can carry on with my games now :)

I am actularry a AOL user with 56k modem as Broadband aint in my area and AOL is the cheapest. Yes it does cut me off sometimes but once i got AOL9.0 you can downlaod a program which "fixes" it.
