This may sound sad, but WoW has some stunning scenery.

Although some of the characters are cartoony, trying to make a gnome look realistic would look awful anywhos.

@milo. i actually meant most realistic. so put rose out of the question :P.

reason im asking is i wanna start a private server which actually has depth, with good scenery, good content, and original hunting areas.

and i find when a game has better graphics, the entire game is usually better.

my view atm is linage2 is the most realistic, but i just wanna see if anyone can improve on that.

the Lineage2 graphics are pretty damn ****ing awesome. I personally still rate that game as the best graphics wise.

Ive heard good things about the graphics of EQ2 as well. You may also want to look at 9dragons, Vangaurd: saga of heroes, and "The Chronicles of Spellborn" all of which have good graphics and decent game play (although none of them are released yet)

GW isnt really an MMORPG, its more of a ORPG, the world isnt persistant like a normal MMORPG world, all the maps except towns are instances, and its kinda boring going out into a map to kill, and only seeing yourself and your party/mercenaries for the entire duration yuour in there.

Its a nice game, but its not a great game. Also, level 20 takes no time at all, so if your the sort of person that enjoys the journey of leveling, its best not to play guild-wars.

yeah what atom said for gw ^^. i want a fully online mmo to edit.

im jus downloadin wow and its server files, i have only played it once (again on my own p server) and didnt really like it because it looked too cartoony imo, but then i looked at it on a m8s pc and it was alot more detailed.

and since it apparently has good gameplay and quality maps, i thought id give it another try, was put away from eq2 by blam, so i wont try that out.

tho a question about wow, does it always require large groups, or does soloing work as good?

tbh for me and for a lot of ppls when it comes to rpg, graphic doesnt metter a lot, the story does more, in mmorpg its also how the world build, what to do, how good is the system, how fast u lvl ect.
as for the best graphic, ye its WoW, blizzard pwns

probelm about wow is that u hav to pay monthly, theree would be more people play if it was free. Like for me example i brought the game but never played it becuase you have to pay, i just thought it would have been pointless for me, so i was stuck with the cd: still am. If there was like anoher part of the map(world) you enterd to pay for then hat would be fine.

Solo griniding is the best way to level (before 55ish anyway). But you have to group to do instances to get decent items. Typical party size is 5 people but for endgame there are 10 man raids and 40 man raids. (Not sure if there are any 20 man raids atm but there will be in burning crusade).

Lets see:

Mir2/3/Woool is basic but client is obtainable as the size is a lot smaller, runs on almost any computer and easy to play as you only have 3 Classes to worry about. Even with Low numbers, as the maps are like 2D - you can see people in the same town, know every single map backwards and where every mob lives - also what level to hunt what mobs.

Lineage 2 / WoW etc is a BIG 3D World, you can be in the same place as a few other people and walk past them. The Client size is large and hardware requirements for a lot of people seem to be too much to handle (Gfx card, HD Space etc). L2J is update daily and most of the stuff works where as WoW seems to be miles behind in Dev - though I have stopped looking at WoW for some time now.

Best idea is whatever floats your Boat in terms of the game is what you should look for, i would start by Looking at what Emu/Files are around, check out the game screenshots etc to see if you would like it and then go from there.

@link, i dont intend on paying for any mmo. i already said this.

@blam, i asked you about eq2 and you said it wasnt worth playing

@demonic, if you havnt used the wow emus in a while then they used to be behind, there are now 3 sets of emus going around, 2 open source, 1 not. one set called mangos seems to be updated hourly, but since i havnt finished installing wow client yet, im still to find out how advanced it is.

i really like l2j, the scenery is great in c5, but i cant stand 7signs and pre c4 maps, they are so under detailed compared to the rest.

will give wow a good try, and see if i can actually get into it.
