Right ok because I'm a swarve ******* I've hooked everything up to my tv, resulting in thousands of SCART leads, but my god it's sexy..

At the touch of a button on my 26" HDTV I can swap between Sky/DVD/PC/Xbox/Ps2/Camcorder... it makes for one sexual setup and the best thing about it is I can use picture in picture, so I can be on my desktop chatting away and in the bottom corner of the screen is sky!! :O and it's hooked up to my surrond sound system, so I can tell when those dirty *******s are behind me in CSS.

So, as you can see... it's almost perfect. ALMOST.

I'm at work so I can't get the exact numbers, but my max res is 1300x768 something (roughly).

Now, I know for a fact that the max res on my tv is actually like 2XXX by 1XXX in HDTV mode... and I'm 80% sure that BF2 supports this, and that you can beef your res out... is there a way to enable this in windows?

The other question is... if anyone has used PIP before, do you know why it will only give me the quarter box and doesn't let me split screen? But when sky is the main broadcast I can split the screen with my xbox (for example) but I can't go half PC half sky!?! Only 3/4 1/4.

Kisses for help.

The xbox is a lower-resolution input, requiring less calculation to apply it to the screen, thus, easier to scale up.

So, try scaling down the resolution on your PC, and see if the picture scales up.

As for the ultra-high res, you should be able to do that fine. You're using an ATI card, right? I remember there being a way to use all the resolutions of your card, not your monitor, in the Catalyst Control Panel.

Nah-uh, 7800GTX D:

The xbox is directly into the TV, it doesn't touch the computay so that's no worry. Or should I pass it through the computer? I can use the HDI or w/e it's called as an output device for my gfx card, but I never really understood the benefit of that.

HDTV comes in effectively 4 flavours.

720i/720p/1080i/1080p

Now, I have no idea where you get 2xxxX1xxx from...

1080p is 1920x1080, and even then it's only the very highest spec TVs that can display it, it's the holy grail of HDTV.
The only display that can go above 2000 pixel-width is the likes of the 30" Dell Monitor but that's not technically a TV.
Your HDTV at 26" will have an optimum resolution of around 1280 x 720 which is 720i/p.

thats what i always thought too. that PC monitor resolutions were far higher than that of any tv.. even HDTV. Wouldnt have thought u would have a problem scaling up but the signal from your gfx card may be too high for the tv to deal with. That may be the problem your experiencing. try scaling down ur desktop resolution to 1280x720 like Sean suggested.

I believe that is the native resolution of your TV, known as Wide XGA (WXGA), it's used in LCD TVs with a 16:9 aspect ratio (approximately), used also in computer monitors for wide presentations and stuff

As for the Battlefield 2, yeah, you can force resolutions.

Just edit your shortcut to:

"C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1366 +szy 768

(or whatever your relevant path is)
