How do i host my server?

Hi guys, new with this kind of stuff...i was wondering how i host my server, so just my friend can access it currently, i have been told about IP's and routers...i am using a BT home hub white box thing with wires in it, it can be wireless however...Could some1 tell me about this please


Also, i was wondering what file i need to send to friends / players for them to access MY server? if it the Client?... I was sent a client to make my own server, if i send that will it be my server or the same client used to make a server?

Abit confused, i would be grateful for any info ty.

Ive read them but i dont understand the begining open browser then enter the i.p? whats all that about? :-S
