laptop t o TV

I am looking to play videos from my laptop on my tv. My laptop doesn't have a s-video port, so should I be doing it with a HDMI cable and should it be male to male?

or is there a better way or doing this

if u have an xbox or ps3 u could try streaming? or avi to hdmi? theres many ways

if u got a hd tv, just plug the HDMI cable into your HDMI port on laptop and then other end into TV and ur jammin
