LOMCN Ran Server

I have a idea - As Ragezone run a server or two with there name to it (Soma and L2 i think), why not LOMCN have a similar thing.

Now this requires of course a lot of planning and co-ordination, to find a host who can be trusted and XX number of people work on the files to make it new and fresh sort of thing.

MIR2/3 is maybe the wrong thing to think about as there is already so many about. I was thinking of maybe a different MMORPG, one that has hardly any servers about so that its something new and fresh.

My thoughts go like this......

There is a game I am working on - TS-Online, it is Isometric like mir, has weather and all sorts of other features and the best thing is the client is only 360Megs....Now the problems is that there is limited information about the game (server side) - the NPCS are in Korean and running via a router is harder than most. Nobody has cracked it yet to make it toally english which is where I come in, i cannot promise it will be sorted but I can give it a shot as they say..

So what people views on LOM ran server? has it been tried many times and failed?

I can host, i can handle 75+ peeps with zero lag

and i think we should have a poll in the announcements, to see if people want to have a LOMCN M2 and M3 server, cuz all other MMORPGs are crap.....

Depends on what MMORPG your talking about.....

L2 - boring as hell
Soma - Same
MIR2 - Boring
MIR3 - interesting but been there, done that
WoW - server is not advanced enough
A3 - hmm not sure - it seemed fun at the time...

Which is why i said something different from the rest, there is already plenty of mir2/3 servers out there. Easiest way I guess is get a "new" server working first, then pass it to the powers to be to try out and disciss etc...

OK, what I was trying to achive / get over was thus:

A server which was hosted by whoever but has the name LOM in there...
It would need to be ahead of all the others and worked on by the best to keep it advanced.

There is a lot of "Advanced" people out there who maybe work on there own stuff, if this was pooled into one server then it would end of with a better server which was more advanced (in the case of MIR2 say).

Now if it is MIR2 - im not really that much help as i shy away from Mir2 (cos basically i dont like it). Ragezone for example manage to get a professional hosted server so the bandwidth was there and meant the server is online most time - hosting on someone home connection is prone to it going down...

It was just a idea anyhow and im sure its been talked about may times, its probably the team (if there was one) was maybe dis-jointed as I have found when i worked in teams before. Its no use if some of the team hold back on infomation or have there own agenda sort of thing....which is probably why LOM ran server never took of many time before...

But the general question was.... would a LOM ran server be a good thing??

Why was it never finsihed? as proven by errr some other group i was part of....lack of leadership can bring down the whole team....you either all got to work on one common goal or forget it...simple really

2) just because it is hosted on a home connection doesnt mean it sux.....

Simple answere is yes, its been tried back in 2002 with mir2 and in 2003 with mir3 and both folded.

Hmmmm... How very odd - I post and ask if LOM were going to host there own server, everybody tells me it will never work, tired and failed and so forth...And as if by magic I now see a LOM run server is in the works...

Good luck anyhow with your Venture (whoever is doing it), shame its Crappy mir2 though..

Not the game as such just the files, when i tried and played with mir2 severs there was way to much missing for my liking, go grab 1.9 and maybe i might be intereresd but as it stands MIR3 JOB has so much more going of for it out of the box. Do you have Autopot for example on mir2? What about red dots on map and so on and so forth..

You either love or hate mir2, guess for the masses though mir2 wins for the small client download...I just dont like it and I esp dont like mir2 1.4 private servers... go hack GN and get the latest
