Hi guys,

On the Artificial Mir 2 server, does anyone know exactly how mining works, code wise? And how do the mining nodes work?

Is it that mining in on spot along a wall in mineral mines, is the same all along that same wall? Or is every spot along that wall different?

Also, how can you tell what is a good spot? Can you tell just by looking at a wall? i.e. a cave-wall instead of a wooden mine wall? Or can you only tell by the number of hits per minute? Or is there an algo where every shoot at the wall there is a 1 in 100 chance of hitting. And every time you hit there is a set number of chances to get Amethyst Ore, Ruby Ore, Nephrite Ore and Platinum Ore? Just wanted to know how the code works really.

Many thanks,

Each hit has a chance of each ore ‘dropping’. Essentially like a drop file. There are no good spots as such, the entire cave is equal from what I understand.

Yep above is correct.

However, note that Crystal based servers support 'MineZone' under the Map DB configuration, so there can technically be areas where the mining might be better or worse (or even different ore types) on the same map, or even only minable in certain areas.

In Artificial, however we kept to the traditional - the hole map is the same principle. [at least for now]

He who waits gets to harvest... :p

Isn't there built in a mining spot exhaustion, so if you stay in one spot, after a while you get nothing dropped until that wall section refreshes? You get more drops if you move around? Or is that a mining lore, a myth?
