So I was anonymously sent a 3.5GB Zip file that claims to be the source code for Mir 4.

Sadly the zip is password protected, I've tried using PassFab (A zip password cracker) however my poor 8-core CPU sh*ts itself and crashes my own system.

I feel it's only fair to release this publicity for everyone. I do hope someone maybe with more time and/or a better CPU than I have may be able to crack the password and share the password with everyone.

Enjoy

What CPU do you have is it a relic of the bygone past? How much ram do you have?

No
Thanks for the share.

It is a shame someone has deleted alot of the directories; even if the archive password is found.

More serious pass recovery program

Pass to unpack: lomcn

It can run on many devices and distribute the computing task. Allows making a portable version which I include here with the installer one (you may have to re-input license keys for it on your computer).

Only thing is, it includes pass dictionaries for many languages but not for Chinese (or Korean for that matter). Don't know if that can be obtained somewhere.

That’s something I’ve thought about since receiving the files. All the files are in English however if it is from WeMade then surely the password for the zip would be in Korean?

When I saw this post I thought it could have been sent to Jev as a proof that there are indeed files out there but only for those willing to shell out for it. Besides pass protected they may be intentionally made incomplete in case pass would be cracked.

I would think password would be more likely in Chinese unless leaked from source as Jev thinks which I think is unlikely. If any nefarious things happen like leaks, I would always bet on Chinese scene to be involved (sorry Chinese friends :D).

There was this thread here about files being available for a nice sum. Suppose someone who bought from that source and wants to resell the files to make some money back. It is harder to run private servers in Korea or China, especially if you want to make it commercially interesting, as they all do out there.

I played Korean 'Happy' server which was clearly a money making server and in about half a year it was closed by some of their national authority 'GRA', no idea what happened to those running it. For the reason I said about our Chinese friends above, it is likely much easier to get away with running pservers in China. Also given the fee charged for the files, it is likely easier to make money off them by reselling them than running them for profit.

Little point trying to crack this password, if the source has been leaked it's just a matter of time before it's available in full. Wemade should just stick their source code on GitHub their track record for leaks is shocking.

sorry, I completely forgot, its 'lomcn'
As normally I don't pass protect any uploads.

Edited orig post with pass.

Mind you I didn't try to crack the password since I didn't even download those zipped files.
From what I see on net, Chinese use passwords written in Western alphabet (as you see in the bellow tables) because the 'password systems' don't like the use of their symbols. Also they commonly use 'digit passwords'. So I wouldn't worry about finding some password list made out in Chinese symbols.
