Hi all,

Firstly, let me apologise if this has been mentioned before.

Trying out a new Mir3 EI server, and a few players have problem, not that bad that they can't look for help themselves though it seems.

The problem is, they get into the game fine and well, can play for a while, but then they just get kicked from the game.

At first I thought about viruses. They all ran virus checks, found and removed them.

My question is, they still have problems staying in the game. They all have exactly the same files as the rest of us, downloaded from the same source.

Does anyone know of a solution to this at all? It would be a lot of unhappy players happier =)

Explain in more detail about the gettin kicked bit...

Does this effect all players or just a few?
Do they quit right back to desktop?
What Gfx card are they using, do they all have something in common there?
What mir3.exe are you using, what server are you using?

Tell me the Mir3.exe size and what it has (such as new 3G features and the like).
What Eiserver you running, the one with 6 magics or the one with 13 magics (KingforEiserver).

Does the server give any clues, put on logging on all of the programs and of course check the logs as well.

Euromir3 has this problem you describe, as in been kicked for no reason back to desktop and also rebooting there pc. This is down to BIOS settings, Drivers and god knows what else.

You said they had virus;s and got rid of them? you 100% sure of that, did you have said virus as well?

the latest nvidia gfx card drivers r almost completely incompatible with many JoB/3G client exes...most Olymp players with nvidia gfx cards use the 44 series drivers and dont have such problems nomore

Quick response, I'm impressed =)

It only affects a few players, they do quit back to desktop. Some have reported an error message with the exe.

I'm not too sure what serverfiles are being used, I'm but a mere pleb on the server (don't know if I can name it here, or if it would be advertising...)

The exe is Mir4.exe, no 3G features, and is 512KB in size.

I am getting somewhere with the problem. I have a feeling that it could be Service Pack 2 on XP, all the people with problems had viruses and I've just heard that one of them is on SP2.

I'm virus free (touch wood), and have been for the past 8 months. No viruses, spyware or trojans on my system =)

Some are trying a reformat now. I'll let you know if it is a SP2 glitch... I feel it just may be.

Thanks all for support, I'll keep checking back...

Nah its not SP2, I have that and all the exe's i have ever tried work fine. Nine times out of 10 it will be the client exe, i do recall for example one exe that i clicked on a NPC (say weapons) and I was chucked back to the desktop, no error messages or nothing.

Im sure there was some posted on here under the 3G Section, the one your looking for is 776K, this has all the 3G features (but still the older looking interface, not the one like Euromir3) and is worth looking for.

As per another thread I started, a few things to bear in mind, cos Wemade are a bit sloppy when it comes to programming - Make sure Spectrum spread is off in the BIOS - the latest NVidia drivers for some reason on some machines wont play ball at all with mir3 and probably loads of other tweaks. All im saying is Euromir3 is having a lot of problems also and they are supposed to have the latest client / coding.

Someone from the server's been reading this before me anyhow, that seemed to solve their problems. Thanks =)

I think it's safe to say that the conflict could be caused primarily by the nVidia drivers... Glad I stuck to ATI lol =)

Thanks a lot for your help, we've got the autopatch working now, that should also cure a few problems =)

*EDIT: Problems solved, it was the nVidia drivers. Thanks all for your help

If you have windowsXP and find that Mir3 minimises on startup, it may be because you dont have service packs installed.

Please do a backup before you install any software if possible. [http://www.karlsforums.com/drvimagerxpsetup_2.2.exe] free backup utility.

Some people dont do windows updates at all [http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp]
.
For more information on WindowXP Service packs go to http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;322389
Also it helps to run the latest DirectX Drivers [http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...0-bfbb-4799-9908-d418cdeac197&displaylang=en] after a video driver install, this helps to validate them.

Mir3 runs better in 16 bit colours, to do this go to your desktop properties (Right-click the desktop -> Properties) and click the 'Settings' tab at the top right. In this section there should be a small drop down box with 'Colour Quality' above it. This needs to be set to 'Medium (16bit)'. This may help.

I had terrible problems with a Radion Video card, it could take 20/30 attempts to log in as it crashed every time. In the end I replaced it with an NVidia Video card, that still had problems, I cured this by getting the latest drivers from NVidia http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp and installing DirectX again.

Installing Video Card Drivers afresh is also a last resort but may help.

A helpfull site for links to manufacturers web sites can be found at http://www.karldavis.com/
also has utilities and a forum for technical PC problems.

I dont know if this is of help to anyone.

Quite interesting that Howie. I'm running on a Radeon 7000 VE, a humble little 32mb SDRam Gfx Card, but with dual monitor output it helps with web design =)

I've also got the nVidia GeForce 4. I have no problems at all with the Radeon, but even I had problems with the nVidia card.

I guess that's what the main problem is. I'll try the 16bit colour switch to see if that improves my game play. Nice post. Thanks.

I think this topic can be closed down now. The initial problem has been fixed, thanks to all you lovely people at LOMCN =)
