Movable parts of the UI.

It came to me last night after I had changed the setting to compact or what ever it's called.

I think it'd be nice to have the option to move the Avatar/HP/MP/Level part and the mini-map around the interface so we can have our own custom layout rather than having to have it in one position for that interface type.

I like it, but I think it hasn't been implemented yet because it's not the easiest thing to implement correctly.

It would lead to issues such as people being able to see more on screen/target mobs that others, who are playing with the default UI, can't. Then the team would have to add "null" zones where all the elements currently are, like you have at the bottom of the screen with the minimalist interface - you can see mobs to the left or right of chat, but you can't target them to cast, as they're considered off-screen.

This would eventually render about 1/4 of the entire screen (minimalist interface + normal interface normal placements being null zones) unusable for targetting and would really screw over people running Mir in 800x600.

Then people using the custom layout would be the ones to be shafted, as they'd have a null zone where the Minimap normally goes on top of not being able to see what's where they moved their Minimap to (say top left corner).

How many people in this day an age still use 800x600...

But regarding seeing more, yes we'd see more in a sense and just the same in another, since we're not REMOVING those elements just moving them, it just covers another area on the screen.
The avatar/hp/mp/level part was never ingame (not the one on this interface anyway) and it doesn't feel right to me having it in the top left, the minimap was just thrown in since it could be done with that, the range of casting should be the same in both reso so I see nothing wrong with it.

Me when running 2 Mir's off laptop, it goes nuts if I run 2 at 1024.

If it doesn't feel right use the basic interface. Can't complain that hasn't been ingame since day 1 :P

That's exactly the problem I described: range of casting. It's not the same on both resolutions, as I can cast on mobs at the left/right edges of my screen running 1024, whereas someone running 800 wouldn't even see them on-screen.

In order to make it the same not just between resolutions but between layouts (default, tiny, custom tiny) you'd have to reduce casting range to ignore all of the areas taken up by all elements of both the default and tiny interfaces.

Practical example, to better illustrate what I mean.

You're using a custom layout based on the mini layout. You move the avatar + HP/MP bars to above the potion bar, to get a better view of what's above you. Now you can't see mobs that are above the potion bar, but you can see mobs where your avatar/bars used to be. Trouble is you can't cast on those mobs, as it would be unfair for you to be able to cast on them while someone who doesn't use a custom layout can't.

I think that's how Sam/BH want it to be (nobody having an advantage based on UI layout), considering that when using the mini layout I can't cast on mobs that would be hidden by the standard HP/MP orb/chat window on top of not being able to cast on any mob behind any element.

Ingame settings SHOULD work, you would need to close your game after setting it to the 'compact' setting and reopen.

Or you can manually change it in you mir2.ini
[Basic Settings]
SwitchPoisonOrder=0
DropItemsShow=1
ShowRevBar=0
[Options]
BGSound=0
Sound=0
FullScreen=0
InterfaceType=2
