By far your best, that looks pretty good, not sure whats going on with that random glow in the middle though.

Hmm well you are improving each signature
Some help:
Maybe make the signature width smaller as it's really long and as the background is simple it kind of drags on...
The font is improving but its still abit eh....
And loose that glow :P
But overall your getting better..

Try working with something different to Link :P
As for backgrounds, I tend to use a mixture of brushes AND filters. That's how I got the effect in my signature... I think I did a bit of smudging aswell though.
Add me to msn and I'll send you some of my PSD's I find that to be the easiest way to learn.
