Just thought i'd post my specs of my new computer to see if it was ne gd (I have a limited knowledge about computers):

3.4 Pentium 4 HT Processor
1024Mb DDR Ram (2x512)
400GB 7200 RPM Serial ATA Drive (2x200)
16x Multiformat (+/-) DVD-Rewiter Drive
128MB GeForce FX5200 Graphics (Dunno if its worth getting 256 with the comp, if so, can u recommend one)
19" TFT Flat Panel Monitor
USB2.0 Ports x4, Parallel & Standard Ports
FIC P4M 800M Micro ATX Motherboard
Full ATX Tower Case with Upgrade Capacity (7 Drive Bays)
(Win XP Home)

Should b a lot better than this beast tht i'm on atm...0.8 P2 Processor,256Mb Ram.. 8 Mb (Built-In) graphics card....
Anywayz...

Something does not add up there tbh:

P4 3.4Ghz - £181
400 GIG HD - £220
GeForce 5200 128MB Ram - £35
2 x 512 = £60 say (cheap and Nasty type)
19" TFT (1280x1024) - £200
16x DVD Burner - £35

Total price of that lot is £730, this excludes a case, PowerSupply, Keyboard + Mouse etc. Is the PC your Buying Second hand or something??

Impressive then - I never doubted you btw, just done a quick check on a Built it yoursself option and could not match the price, then again a company like Tiny/Dell etc can get parts a lot cheaper than buying from Scan, so it fugures I guess.

The only problem with a Ready made system is you have no choice (apart from Dell) as to what you get in there and end of spending money later on better parts..

well its due to spyware or a virus then so basically wot u said was wrong a computer wiw better stats cant run craper than a comp wiw more crap stats. Common sense ;)

EDIT : You should download Microsoft Antispyware (see sticky thread for download) if you got spyware. Tho if the computer has too much spyware u will most likely have to format

Good price i see, that 19" tft is a bargain.

btw Sky, why use 3 anti-viruses? and 2 firewalls, if you have bought a decent firewall you shuddnt need the crap windows one. (Only 1 av will do)

I made tht same computer on Dell, and it came to over £1250, and i don't mind upgrading it in a couple of years time, its just i don't c the point in:

1) Getting a comp with 3.8, 4096Ram, 512Mb Graphics Card (I no they ain't out yet) etc when i only need a computer to do my coarsework and play a couple of online games,

2)Paying £1250 for a computer when i can get it for £699.....

But then again, thts my opinion.

Quite a sensible oppinion, programmes have their boundaries for which 700 quid computers are more than capable of meeting. Unless you are doing some serious photo, video editing or hosting more than 1 gig of RAM in todays market is silly

Yup... Only reason i'd get more ram was if my Processor was slower....
Otherwise you don't need ne more, imo.
