I really like the start page but then it goes onto the main site -.-. I recommend you start off with a template then get better off that. Thats what i used to do!

Yeah you are rite, but i just made that as a simple downloads page for my server tbh. I dont see much point in a hugely graphic site for downloads.

Your site is almost as basic looking as his, just a little better. No offense lol.

Try adding more images in bubble, and use tables or even better use CSS div layers.
Also i hate black sites, add a bit more colour into it.
