But yeah that usb freeview sounds like a good idea.

Can you just record freeview right to your HDD with it?

Basically, because i want it to run independantly.

You can get the freeview box to record episodes, you can set it up to record whole series etc etc. It has 250gig harddrive, and it works externally from the computer.

This way, it wont **** around with my computer, i can switch between the two easily etc.

The box shows what shows are on etc, just like sky+.

Anyone know the answer to my question?

You'll PROBABLY need a VGA to Scart converter.

Your right, i think you also need an arial input, which my monitor doesnt have.

I think im going to have to go with the USB version, does anyone know of a USB stick that comes with a schedular, i found one from PC world, although its £80, which seems abit steep. So if anyone could find me a cheaper version that comes with a schedular i would be pleased.

The benefits of this is that it automatically records programs when they're on, you can view what programs are due to be on etc etc

will a tv license be neccesary by doing this as its all via the pc.
Yes, as with all TV receiving equipment you have to have a TV licence, you even have to have one for watching streaming media as well.
