anybody know any good artists who are (royalty free/license free/ under creative commons), which can be edited and distributed commercially.

Im looking for some music to use in some youtube videos and also games, which wont break my chances of getting into the youtube partner program in the future, or get me sued.

Genre's im looking for:
Rap/hiphop
electro/hiphop
Rock.
maybe some dnb if its good.
some nice 8bit too.

but it would be nice if people shared nice stuff they find from other genres for others to use.

thanks.

Try some "Mount Eden" and there Dubstep is amazing, not to heavy, just nice and relaxing imo.

Or this song by "Chase And Status" before they went commercial, is simply beautiful, no other word for it!

Are you looking for instrumentals or songs with lyrics?

Pretty sure if you go on SoundCloud you can browse license-free tracks. Direct links from every song (usually) and you can search genres.

e.g. clicksies

Will have to fiddle around the settings!

will try it.

Not sure, but mixtapes are free so no sure if you can get done for using songs from them?

www.datpiff.com for hip hop mixtapes

iv listened to a few tracks from here before some are ok, but are they license free? for example i quite like this

Napalm - Justice Genesis remix, which was released with his album on datpiff but as the song is a remix im unsure as to whether its license free or not..

just because a song is free to stream or download doesnt necessarily mean its licence free (this is the problem), among that list i noticed spotify which support huge named artists, who are defiantly not license free.

I have no idea if I'm honest.

They manage to remix other peoples songs and release them on here for free, and legally?

By having your music on Spotify you earn a royalty when your music is played.

that suggests its not to me - http://www.spotify.com/uk/work-with-us/labels-and-artists/

spotify is paying them a royalty for you to use their music, as soon as you move that track away from the spotify trademark you owe the artist a royalty as you are not affiliated with spotify.

Soundcloud seems like the best place, there is lots of remix's but i assume they are legal as the CC label is displayed.

i hate you shaba (y).
