This on the 360, rendering over 100billion polygons.

Well that's obvious really tbh, graphics always have and always will be being improved.

The future of gaming relies in Hardware, I'd say. More specifically, input.

well not completely hardware, before this the xbox 360 could only handle around 10 million polygons , but with adjustments to how the software handles polygons/lighting they have managed over 100billion, that's a huge increase running on the same hardware as before.

With development like this, we could be see'ing then gap between console releases increase.

Yeah, you could say that about most engine releases up to now though. As mentioned, new engines isn't really anything to jump about over, however new hardware developments in things such as motion sensing is a bit more the future.

However crap it may be.

And that's true?

I mean, it's real time rendering or it's some like raytracing etc? (I studied this some months ago :P)

as far as i know its realtime, the object is converted into millions of atoms not unlike the real world.

what you will notice in the videos is, they haven't yet managed to incorporate animations to this, but i suspect it will only be a matter of time. this method has been around for over a decade so its not as new as the guy claims it to be, its just the technology hasn't improved much until recently.
