Windows being dodgy.

Well my mate has recently has had his windows go dodgy and it brings nothing up just the desktop background. He can only use programs like msn using task manager. He tried reformattin but F11 dont work and system restore never stored any restore points.

Anyone else had any problems like this? could it be windows blinds or something :s anyways here's a screeny. Ta for any info...

cld be your resolution being too low. screens go wierd like that sumtimes.

if u have wb6 crack in it also does that.

Well windows explores not working, I had the same problem from installing a dodgy driver one time.

The way I moved around my PC is to try and open up a program (Word) or somthing and navigate from the 'Openfile' box.

But how I sorted it was to restore my PC, ask him if he has installed anything?

well temporarily... bring up taskmanager > new task > "explorer"..

shud start it again. else try running is safemode (hold F7 on reboot til u get a menu), then run scandisk checkin for errors. mite repair anythin obvious.

seein as he was ok to try format, uninstall anythin and everythin he can and is willing to sacrifice til it works :P

surely if sys restore is runnable then there will b atleast one restore point. usually auto saves when new software is installed.

go to task manager, File, New Task, Then type in ''explorer.exe'' if it doesnt load up then, well i dunno.

He did that an it just repeated the same thing :s. Only things he's installed is new printer and windows sp2.
