Guys - what can I do to make my Mir run a bit smoother/faster - I'm on a Windows 8 laptop at home, I'm guessing change the OS to start with? I can't afford to buy a new/better PC/Laptop to run it on at the moment (it just isn't plausible) - I have to do the best with what I have - does anyone have any advice at how I can make a pretty standard Asus Laptop with Windows 8 decent for playing Mir on (I bought it just for Mir - so don't mind deleting everything else etc!)

Thanks for any help in advance

as far as laptops go.. id stay well away from them. If you can make do with what you have thats probably your best bet. Windows 8 should be fine as an OS.

I would recommend downloading smartclose, setting mir to high priority in task manager and maybe unparking your cpu cores. This helped me on my girlfriends laptop but not by a huge amount.. unless its a specific gaming laptop I wouldnt expect much out of it bud. Maybe using a VMware would help but I really have no experience in that field. Maybe someone else can elaborate?

VMWare wont help - as it is still using the same hardware and this is where the bottlenecks occur. About all you can do is make sure you are using the latest drivers (Windows 8 will do this for you), make sure you have nothign running the the background eating resources (again, smartclose will take care of this), set mr2.exe in the task manager to high priority, and unpark your spare cores.

Smartclose is a temporary solution and tbh not the greatest one at that, it's far easier to learn what needs to be running at start up and close non needed programmes in msconfig [emoji4]

And in reference to SSD making no difference come pvp me in game mark and you'll see, infact I'll be impressed if you hit me [emoji14]

I wasn't on about fps dude was on about playing speed in general as in pvp speed and not getting smacked from the other side of the screen lol [emoji14]

I'm aware of how a solid state drive works but just saying that it did make a difference for me in pvp and most other people I know who play and have upgraded to one too [emoji4]

could using the oldest gpu driver you can get your hands on have a better effect for mir?

maybe you need a better HDMI cable. you need a more modern one for ps4 and that displays at 60fps, if you use the one from ps3 i imagine that would be stuck at 30 fps (which ps3 is limited to anyway).

so try a high speed hdmi cable.

So to clarify for everyone trying to understand the concept of "loading quicker" with an SSD, this will help your game run smoother as data is transferred faster than the standard HDD.

People trying to long that one out for no reason what so ever

Hdmi cables do have different data rates but everyone shud handle 1080p easy only time u will need a better quality is for 3d and dts sound, main thing is your using a tv which on average has a response time of 25ms+ some are rediculas my panasonic smart tv is terrible for playing xbox on feels so laggy but i plug it into my pc monitor which has a 1ms gtg and it feels unbelievably responsive i compared it with my mates xbox on his tv next to each other and the difference was huge

I play on a must be 7 year old Samsung Syncmaster P2270HD
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-SyncMaster-P2270HD-widescreen-speakers/dp/B004DN1VGC

I have thought before that perhaps the output from my machine is fast enough but the screen cannot keep up thus forcing the game to slow down, dont really know much about it all.
I have ordered the Samsung Evo 850 SSD today even if it doesn't speed me up its a nice upgrade for general computing anyway. and also have win7 ultimate ready to boot onto it instead of my current home edition.

OS and main programs/games you use
Anything on the SSD will load faster
Use a second HDD for storage photos/video etc

SSD will improve the speed mir loads at but will not improve ingame speed

I can confirm the SSD improved my game speed considerably.

Testing before and after with Evisu, i used to skip behind 3 times in a certain distance, after the SSD not a single skip back.
Its the ONLY change i made.

Does not improve for everyone though.
At 40quid for 120gb SSD its silly not to try if you are slower than you think you should be.
