Reasoning behind nerfing wiz fwall ?

Now i know those who are NOT wizards, will turn round and say ''firewall damage hasnt been changed'' and whilst for the most part thats true, the timings have been reduced - meaning we lose DPS.

Yesterday, it was taking me roughly 2minutes to kill an EvilSnake (using fwall line and lightning, please bear in mind i kill EvilSnake regular, and have been timing my kills to see how my char is improving for a few days now)

This morning, it took me nearly 4minutes to kill the same EvilSnake (again using fwall and lightning), is it fair to have our spell nerfed by what seems 50%?


Any reasoning behind this? Seems like the only class atm being nerfed into oblivion is wizards , we had a shield debuff, and now we've had a fwall debuff. Yet assasins and warriors can run through our fwall with little to deter them, as soon as they get anywhere near half hp, they just RT.

Half a dozen or so times ive been 2-3shot whilst warriors/sins are 'loling' at my no flinch fwall!

Not to mention the fact our main spell (FlameField) has a gay cooldown on it (Thunderstorm does not)

2x Wizards do not stun undead mobs anymore

Obscene amount of mana usage on some spells.

To be honest you've had it pretty good until now. I don't run a wiz. But the fact things take slightly longer means you actually have to find a faster way to level.

considering they suck at pvp they should at least be left alone to be good at pve

Basically, f'r ev'ry did cast of firewall, all previous firewall's ticketh counteth is did reduce by one. What this means is yond by the timeth thee lodging thy 10th firewall the first one wouldst beest closeth to expiring

However, how I understand this, for every FW you laydown the tick of the newest or first is reduced by 1. I assume this is to stop a wizzy just spamming FW, and them all lasting X time...

Therefore if that's the only change the reason your FW is lasting shorter times or loosing tick damage for every one cast.

At the end of the day on a 26 wiz I can tank a lure or 30+ mobs in BC with HP Pot, FW and Firebang, this is insane, with occasionally sunny if I don't pay attention to HP pot tick running out. It is insane and I was using it fresh outa box.

Yes i can still go to bugcaves and tank lure 100 mobs with 1 hp pot and fw/icestorm...this isnt what im complaining about.

I am complaining about the nerf we received, you can dress it up how you like, its still a DPS reduction.

I noticed that Fwall (before patch) used to tick twice per space on some mobs. I presumed that was because they were slow (zombies), I didn't check on faster mobs.
Perhaps the adjustment to timing also changed the ticks per square? if you are seeing a 50% reduction in damage it could be that?
It's a shot in the dark, I have not used it after patch so no idea.

Why has FF got a cooldown? I was under the impression it was like thunderstorm with little or no delay???

Wiz seems like a really gimped class now, if it wasnt for the fact i've bought some permanant buffs on my wizard, i would probably re-roll.

When i donated, my wiz was good. Now im having second thoughts as to how much more money i put into this server (Yes i know, my 15/20 a week, is a drop in the ocean for jamie ATM, but if alot of other people have the same frustrations like i have, then im sure it'll be a snowball effect)

Which is a shame really, as i was enjoying the server bar one or two small annoyances like SwiftFeet having no cooldown, sins generally being a bit too OP (Agility on standard items, no real accuracy penaltys like on other servers), the shield nerf had little or no effect as i was only level 32 at the time, but this firewall nerf is kinda a kick in the teeth when you combine in with the cooldown on FF

From the outside, it looks as if the two class's that have been buffed the most are funnily enough the two class's that Jamie and Shane enjoy the most (Tao/Sin)

Taos get increased SC from SpiritSword (transfers DC to SC), which leads on to them getting kit which has DC+SC+Holy, which is kinda fine afterall they needed a buff to bring them in line with other class's.

But the Assassin class is OP to say the least. I do not need to list why but i did read an interesting point from someone on this forum who mentioned that this class was added late into the asian mir2 servers and as such was kinda OP to begin with (to compete with the already high level players), so all you've done is make an already OP class, even more OP lol.

There was NO change to the damage or how the damage is calculated.


Timings were changes so it can last no shorter than 5 seconds, and no Longer than 60 seconds. (This only effected those thigh HIGH MC which you do not have).

further more, When you CAST firewall, any and all previous firewalls have their duration reduced by 1 tick (approximately 1 ~ 2 seconds).

My FWall only lasted 5-6 Seconds before the patch, (low level, low MC) I've not been on since the patch but this suggests that I'll never be able to have more than 3 Fwalls up at a time.
Sounds like a massive nerf to new players while the higher ones have once again benefited already.

If it is the case when I do manage to log on next, i'll be hanging up my gloves. I thought the Beta had finished......

im only level 31, but realised no difference in firewall since yesterday, dont know why it would effect anyone with low mc anyway..

Level 1 Firewall with only 15 MC, lasts 20 seconds. Maybe 18 second depending of is the damage is applied immediately on cast.

cry thread, I play a wiz and find firewall to be fine on here, if anything it's abit overpowered, the things that may need looking at on here are wiz single target spell damage and maybe lightning as some seem abit weak, almost all averaging around the same amount of damage.
Can't comment on flamefield as I haven't yet got this spell

no need to nerf them !!! I'm done with this game don't know why I even donated back to another server
