Hi all,

I am a Mir2 player from the times of WeMade servers. I have a question about this different implementation of Mir 2 - heroes vs crystal.

Can someone please clarify to me what are the exact differences between the two, from as deep as technical level as possible?

Some questions I have to start start with is:
1. Which one is the original one hosted by WeMade Entertainment. I assume Heroes?
2. If so, why does Crystal exist and how is it different?
3. Any additional history about Mir 2 as detailed as possible, or links to archived information, etc!

For context: I want to create custom hosted, private (to me, for now) version of Mir 2 that is as close to the original hosted one as possible. I know we already have servers, of which many I have already played and enjoyed Mir 2 on including Arcadia and Project69, but I want to know about the most true to original version of Mir2 and if its possible to recreate only that. The purest vanilla possible. If this can be documented and organised as information, like the original Mir2 sites, for example with maps, weapons, classes etc, I am happy to contribute to creating software such as a website to show this information. Like a Mir2 bible. Again, please forgive if I have missed something already existing. I WANT: to be able to launch the client like I was 20 years ago, and log into a server that is behaving like it would have if it was at that same time long ago! Same NPCs, functionality, features etc. I am willing to of course forego anything that involved real money and by default include that as a free feature.

Thank you! :)

Well, this thread came to mind, although it is very outdated (much has been added to Crystal in the last decade - whereas progress on any other files ceased around the same time) but it may give you some idea at least.

1. Neither. Heroes are not based on Wemade/Korean Mir at all, they are based on Shanda/Chinese Mir.
2. Crystal is based on Wemade/Korean and aims to follow the Official version today, except where limitations due to lack of information or the language barrier prevent.
3. Our Wiki is here, otherwise it's a case of searching through the vast content on this forum.

Your next question is subjective because your idea of "the most true to original version of Mir2" depends on when and what version you played.

I would say that we don't lack information, we lack developers who can work long hours. I am happy to provide information, but there is no one to code it.

Honestly - They're probably not worth working on at all now.

Understood. Makes sense, I guess heroes will be limited in certain ways with being such an old code base as well?

Purely from a players perspective for me I wondered.

Well, the hero files are a bit old
But Crystal files can be modified as you like :)
