You probably have Chinese language in mind (or similar languages that don't use English alphabet) and there I agree.
Gamers in non-English countries that use western alphabet mostly know enough 'gaming English' to play games just fine but it is quite a different thing for Asian languages, like Koreans, Chinese.
Still, it is actually way more likely that a Chinese will know English than that someone from West out here will know any Chinese. I worked on translating mir3d Conquera game and I could probably still read names of colors and numbers in Chinese but that's about as far as it goes.
