You can't run windows programs on the Apple operating system, at least not without a decent emulator, and even that can be laggy at times :agree:

I like Apples, but its a completely different world for them. You will probably get new friends, hang out in poetry bars, wear a beret and get a goatee after you buy your Mac.

Sums it up really, unless you want to be annoyed as soon as you find something your Mac can't run...

From experience stick with a pc.

everyone person ive spoken to says apple r great. my ict teacher even thinks posotive about them. lol . i havent had experince neither have you urban but i think i am going to.....


i can run msn, photoshop, music........ sum games......

And you say this why? I have had experience with apple, forced I must say due to clients being complete idiots thinking that whatever they buy will run whatever applications they need.

It's your money, you do whatever you want to do, but you'd be extremely foolish to buy overpriced hardware that will disapoint you in the end.

But you know what, WHY THE FUKC DID YOU MAKE THIS THREAD.

You have 5+ people telling you DO NOT BUY AN APPLE and you just come back with oh well my teacher likes them so I think I will buy one. You are wasting everyone's time. SERIOUSLY.

99.9% of peolpe who Own a PC ala Pentium/Athlon will tell you that Apple are crap. 99.9% of people who own An Apple will tell you that PC's are crap - this is how it is and how it always will be.

I see no-one mentioned "BOOTCAMP" which lets you Install Windows XP and run any app you feel the need. Lets not forget that A second hand apple can fetch a very good price compared to the Same Spec PC which goes way down the second you buy it.

Bascially for Application - Apple is very strong, Gaming is PC. As the Apple Laptop features a X1600 and runs @ 1400x900 - then it can cope with games, I have seen it run no problem BF:2, HalfLife Ep1 and many others.

I need to add that I personally do not Own an Apple but I have Mates who do and you really do get the best of Both worlds from what i have seen. I made this post to balance the Anti Apple threads and the narrow Minded Views presented.

from what I seen of a mates laptop (Fitted with ATI X1600), he booted the mac and had a choice between Windows XP and Mac OS X (this is BootCamp in effect). Be Booted into Windows and from that point forth it might as well have been a Windows machine- you then Install, run etc stuff as you would do on a normal pc.

He ran BF:2 @ 1280x900 medium Settings and it ran without any "lag". The only problem I can see of this Bootcamp is the Disk partitioning will mean whatever you choose Space wise for the Partition, this is what your Stuck with.

A Computer is as good as the Software you run on it - if you have no Software for the Apple, it will be a fancy Windows Emulator. Take a look at what Laptop you can get for the Same money PC wise and see what Gfx card they come with, screen size etc....

decent thred and i get what your sayin about the bootcamp thing BUT to me its like buying a subaru because it looks nice but then adding evo engine because it sounds better or something. i know its not a very accurate analagy but im wired been workin. You buy a mac because you want a mac not to want a mac then go i want pc applications on it, you cant always have your cake and eat it.
