As the title says my Kubuntu and Ubuntu cd's have came but i dunno weather to install them, people have told me to stick to Windows XP because you can install games and programs on Linux that'll deffo work, and if i dunno what im doing with it then dont install it. It says it'll delete every software and data on my computer, does that mean it'll delete my Windows Xp Restore thing thats build it it restores my comp to the state when it was first brought i just wanna know if it deletes this coz if it does and i install Kubuntu and i dont like it i'll have to buy a new Windows CD hope someone can help

thanks alot

Make a drive partition and install it to that.

Think that'd work better imo.

Yes, but it's as aMSN.

How did it go last night, Kev? Thar thundarrrstorm had me right through to 2AM, sorry.

BTW - Get a program called Automatix. It provides a nice GUI to install all the bits Ubuntu is missing normally (eg, DVD playback, MSN programs, etc).

I'll see to sorting you out with Compiz Fusion tonight. If you don't know what that is - google it, and watch the funky videos ;)

I'm currently running Windows Vista 64-bit. What are the advantages of running a Linux distro? Namely the one that is in discussion here. What is program functionality like? ;o

Windows XP would run faster and Windows Vista looks cool enough. I'm wondering about program functionality and other things. Hopefully SirAuron can shed some light on the idea.

Understand anything I say is based on MY EXPERIENCE. It will NOT be the same for you. There WILL be differences.

Linux runs faster, looks better, and operates smoother than Vista or XP ever did for me.

It's a great environment when you just want to browse the internet, play music, etc.

That said, it's worth retaining Windows simply for Office 2007 and some games.

Other than those cases, I'm always in Linux these days. It's sure come a LONG way. And the faster response is a very welcome change from Windows (Plus, it looks a LOT better while being faster :P)

I think the only thing that is putting me off is program functionality. I want to be able to play Pro Evolution Soccer 6 and Legend of Mir ;o

you can 2 ways i think

1) partiton ubuntu on ur hd so u still have windows on there and just change to windows when u wanna play pro evo / mir

2)sir auron said to me that u can emulate games into ubuntu from windows confussing it or something, you'll have to ask it lol but goodluck and i must says its quite good;)
