anyone use 3/3G modem - broadband on the go?

Know a few people who have this and they say that its not really like broadband at all and its slow, more comparable to dial up to be honest.

Might of been down to their signal, but im not sure.

Well i got it yesterday and taking it back today £100 for pay as u go 1 and top up £15 a month its so slow and unreliable , i tryed to go on mir with it also and u can move every 5sec :/ its so slow, my m8 has it also and his seems fine :/

Depends where you live and if you get full signal etc.

Think it also depends on how many are using it in your area too i believe.

-When it says broadband, i think it means mobile broadband, which is not as fast as home broadband.

ive got the vodafone 1, i think its brilliant i got 7.2mb a sec its worth it i think , its not slow at all

Its all about the area you live in and for what usage you are using it for.

Its however not ideal for gamming.

I had a vodafone one about 2 years ago now the top speeds I get where a while 520k!! lol, and they limited me to 1gig transfer a week which sucked. I didnt really like it if I'm honest.

None of them are any good.

These are designed to be used with laptops and not desktop machines, also there are usage caps on them and anyone who tells me different can have a black eye(emmile this is aimed at you so shut it).

They use, depending on the type you go for 3/3G/3G+. These are all usage dependent.

3 = is the basic of them all and has a usage rate of about 3gb pcm and is slow as hell

3G = these are the more upto date ones that most of you have heard of, they range from 3gb - 7gb pcm and have speeds of upto 3mbs

3G+ = This is the premium contract one, these don't have a usage policy as of such as these are contract only and you are lucky if you pay less than £60pcm for one - these can have speeds of upto 7mbs.

Anyone buying one of these as the easier option to play games and things, then don't bother. Its not what your looking for and its certainly not cheap, which by the way. Doesn't work like a mobile. Where you top up and you can go again, currently at the moment you can only top up once a month.....

Yes but is urs the dongle or the PCMCIA card.

Your one of the lucky one's then to have that download rate so cheap, as 3G is usually capped a 3MB download. Its only the 3G+ that has the higher end of download, but as I said its not cheap.

I've not used the orange one.. but when i plug my mobile in to my PC i can use it as a modem and thats pretty fast.. considering it's completely wireless

my sister has the 3 one and she says it's really good, but they wern't exactly designed for playing mir lol

They are not designed for gamming at all and you can be cut off also because of it, as your manipulating over usage on a 3G phone network.
