It runs any games I have perfectly, has no problem with supreme commander on full settings which used to eat my old 7600. And from what I can imagine the 512 will fair much better.

However it does create a lot of heat. Might need to get a fan or something if your case is compact etc...

not really any place i can put a fan. but if it overheats, the system will short out and restart right? im not gonna only realise its overheated afta my pc is melted am i?

in any case, if it does make the system too hot, ill cut a hole in the side. or shove it in a fridge.

8800gts are naturally quite hot, you should be able to alter the fan speed if it gets too hot, and dont get too worried if the temps are like 80-90 degrees on load because thats pretty normal.

If it does overheat then your PC normally just restarts or you might get messed up picture in games and slowdowns.

You sure about that.

I currently use a 7600GT 512MB and its not even touching the sides of the G/Card playing SC - I currently use and play high range games and not one of them has touched the card yet.

http://www.majorgeeks.com/Prime95_d4363.html best u can use for stress testing, we always use when overclocking in ocforums i use.

A lesser known but much more efficient pi microbenchmark. Even on my relatively slow 2.6 GHz A64 it is capable of doing 1M digits in ~2.5 seconds, which is over a 3 fold improvement over WR SPi scores (~8.xxx seconds afaik). Is the fastest known program for computing pi to > 160,000,000 significant figures on PCs.

hmm i also used PC Wizard 2008 or something from CPUID to get total analyzis of system

Most helpful i ever used for cpu temp is realtemp. Simple and easy, forgot where i got it, its called realtemp.zip, v simple program. Monitors cpu temps

on speedfan temp2 is showing 53 (and a flame symbol), i presume this is my gfx card. the temp went up by 2 (from 51) when i put the casing on.

is this normal? i think someone earlier said that it cld go upto 90 on games and that still be ok?
