best of what? there is no 'best' server... its all down to the players interest.
like u said, ud vote for izar cause its full of romanians... where as loads of ppl wouldnt rate it that high.
oldskool has hit 220 users, yet some would say its not good. same with mir revenge.. it has a high user count.. some love it, some hate it
personally id go off user count, i mean, a server with 5 users, i wouldnt consider good, even if it was the best made server ever, i just couldnt play with 4 other ppl.

OldSkool = was gd but hit lvl 61 n couldnt be assed no mre got bored
Mr = hit lvl 60 n got bored of tht 2
Torozor = logd on n tho y *** sould i do this all over again ( no spells cus of 1.9 in my case spells make a lot) (love tdb) ;p. hit 140 n give char away
izar = aint english got 1 lvl n fukd of (got told i was gonna get banned 4 being on tht n being english lol)
heaven = totally sht
all the rest of the servers totaly sht t

However it was probably my favourite server I played this year, or Village, I thought that was pretty good too.

im also lookin forward to wot aeolian is like.. does indeed look good, but i mainly wanan see wot the files have 2 offer
Imo there isn't one, every server is a grind fest/boss hunting for items.
I for one would love to see a server that actually influences doing quests to gain levels/equipment, yes i play WoW but questing is one of the things i love doing in WoW seeing the way people level by questing would be very different in Mir :P

Yes i have :P, looks and sounds very good. I was just refering to whats available to play at the moment and really its only half way through 2008, could easily be a few more servers to come out.
Oldskool is good because have lots players, always adding news in game but GM's is get involved to much at players problems...i meaan... a gm changed my pass and returned kit to some1..
MirRevenge WAS a nice server too... too many rewinds...
Izar have a good uptime, is running of 2002, GM isn't corrupt.. this server have just 10-15 players on because there isnt nothing special for beginners and there PLAYED lots romanians.
Project69 good uptime but became boring and corrupt..

Is because like two year back when i actually went on it i got a Romanian buddy to get Ripman to level me to 40 lol :x usually calls himself n00b.

If its based on players counts and tons of new content then i have no idea but if its based on other qualities that really matter then Pongo Server would be my choice and not just because i own it either, let me explain.
All of the other servers online suffer from corruption, downtime, rewinds and general idiots that ruin the game for other players. Pongo Server has been online for nearly two years and the only downtime its had was planned reboots or hardware upgrades and not once has there been a rewind.
If the "best server" is rated on content, then ask yourself this: "Is all this new stuff ACTUALLY new or just crud from old 1.4 files which were image rips off of Woool that have been around for years"

fair enough your server has been up for two years, and thats a big contribution to the mir community. But it seems like pongo goes under the radar. perhaps posting what updates your doing on lomcn may influence people too play. I myself, thought pongo went offline a long time ago.
On topic best server this year
1. OldSkool- brilliant. Gets annoying when you have to fight greifers and pkers just to try and get 1% in a cave. I cant complain though, cause pking is part of mir and i enjoy it occasionally
2. Village- bad ass up to the point where it was revealed as corrupt. It could be argued that any Gm would of done the same, but one of the requirements for a good gm is to resist any kind of temptation.
3. Kortex- Excellent low rate server. Doesn't have the user count it deserves, and probably never will due to high demand in high rate servers.
i cant think of any others from the top of my head. Am looking forward to Brainskan and Aeolian though
