Ok I'm thinking about going back to Mir2, but would like some question answered first.

Now I've played about with Mir2, back in the days of the 1.4 & 1.9 LEDU foundation files and I know a lot has changed since then. Now to save me having to trawl through the forums and get all the information required or reading countless amounts of guides, I'm gonna put everything here that I would like answered.

  1. What are the current files being used
  2. Whats required SQL 2000 or 2005
  3. Setup - Is it easy or hard
  4. Up to date map editors - Are they availble
  5. Player base
  6. Best EXP rate's
  7. Items - Links to what is availble would be great
  8. NPC scripting - Is it still easy to do and is there a guide
  9. List to every availible editor as well.
  10. All programs required, including DBC and others.
If there is anything that I have missed that could be included in to this, to help me on my way.

If people could provide me with as many links to the latest files and other things that would be great, as I would like to get back in to Mir2 for the simplicity that it creates on great servers.

All information is greatly appreciated.

1. Pretty much everyone uses thedeaths files atm. Theres a few others around but none up to the same level yet as far as I know
2. Either will work
3. Easy, Sql database then a few ips and it's done
4. Shorty's map editor is probably the best around and works well
5. Not too bad, I know oldskool easily reaches 200+
6. Most prefer high rate, no popular low rates about really
7. If you mean new items, theres tonnes of weapons and armors. Just search releases or check out killmasters release.
8. Still very easy, can't think of a guide but get an npc command list and it's self explanitory
9. Apart from the large number of wil editors I can't think of any
10. Just sql as far as I know.

Ok thank you for that.

Just another couple of questions.

With NPC sripting, can you do SQL store scripts or is this still not availble in the Mir2 files.

Agree with this, think this would be very handy for new and old server people

1. There are a few different file sets out there at the moment, but most do have a few problems compared to TD's. So i'd suggest using TD's if your getting back into it, the most up to date can be found here: http://www.lomcn.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=53383

2. Either 2000 or 2005, some server files do require SQL 2005, and also if your running Vista you might have trouble getting 2000 to work. Handy guide for normal setup: http://www.lomcn.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=54617&highlight=SQL+Setup+Guide Guide for 2005 and Vista: http://www.lomcn.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=57446

3. Pretty easy if you can get past the SQL. This guide, used with the one above, should get you through: http://www.lomcn.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=57740

4. Shorty's is probably the best to use at the moment: http://files.filefront.com/MapEdit1rar/;11798108;/

5. Depends on the server, high rate seem to be quite popular at the moment.

6. Again depends on the player. High rate seems to be the most popular.

7. This is where most of the newest items come from: http://www.lomcn.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=57358 However new ones can be easily made by ripping from other games.

8. NPC scripting is still done with scripts stored in the files and referenced by the database. Here's quite a useful post for information on all the commands: http://www.lomcn.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=56618

9. Can find pretty decent one in this guide. http://www.lomcn.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=57740

10. Should be able to get everything you need out of those guides. Good luck.
