no , they are broadband for the "labtop"
Nope they are not lol.

They are for laptops, but yes its the new(but not so new) mobile internet cards. These use 3G instead of the old PCMCIA cards that where GSM enabled.

The best one to use is Vodafone, they have been producing these type of cards for years. Originally on the PCMCIA GSM cards and now on the USB 3G ones. Vodafone ones also use a multi band one, which switchs between GSM and 3G and is the best option for anyone.

i have looked at getting one for a while, but atm the higest download limit i can find is 3Gig (but i havnt looked for like 4 months ish) wich is just for basic internet browsing really, with the odd email opened with pics. when they start to go over the 10(ish) gig usage limit i will probs be getting one on my phone contract. they are useful for going away or what ever but for more the "basic" pc user not the downloading sort (as i think u can guess) as with games etc using download and upload streams going all the time.

the only other problem i had with them, is u couldnt check what u had used so u cud easily go over the usage and get the charge of like £1 a mb :s wich i didnt fancy at the time lol

The mobile broadband are not designed for downloading and never will be, the current max you can get is a 7GB limit.

They are also not designed for gaming, this is why we have home broadband. But on a 7GB limit you can still play online games on about 3hrs per day and still have space to send and receive emails and surf the net.

Do you get charged for every Mb / GB you go over? Priority as in slows the connection?

I am in halls at uni and can't use the internet here to play any online game, which sucks because I suprisingly have alot of free time because my course requires very little. Would it be worth getting one of these to play mir an hour or 2 aday? I wasn't sure if i could play online games with one of these but apparently someone above said you can. Therefore which one would be best? :D

You can play online games with them, i played wow with my phone connection for a little while and was still faster than some friends on there, but it will always be second best to wired connections, if your playing a game where every second counts, then don't bother.

You should go for the one that offers best signal in your area, or the area you plan to be using it most.
