SQL isn't Starting :(

i've been away from home 3-4 days , and now when i comed bk i opened my pc , and sql didnt started ( automatic) ,
i pressed on SQL Server Service Manager , and it was on STOP , pressed on START , and nothing happend , i rebooted the pc but the same
pls help is very important

Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer

if you are using the eval edition it times out after 6 months, mine ran out on my test server yesterday lol. luckily i had backed up the database the night b4.

i dont know if there is anyway of retreiving your DB once the eval runs out, but by the sounds of it thats what your problem is. sorry to be the barer of bad news

I have been told you can just uninstall it and reinstall again n you get another 6 months.

Refresh Application Log

An entry about the fail should be there.

if you get "SQL Server evaluation period has expired."

i rly dont know if there is tbh dude, i never tried because i wouldnt know where to have looked lol, cuz if you cant get the server to connect you cant access the DB :s

hope you do have some luck or some1 can point u in the right direction lol. im gunna post a link to a torrent site to down load a full copy of MSSQL in a min lol. you mnite wanna give that a shot.

I wonder if you are able to use the "MSDE" version and still be able to use the eval's Enterprise Manager.

MSDE is the FREE version of the SQL DB.

Not sure if it will read the MDF LDF files from eval though... give it a try maybe?

MSDE is available on my mirfiles.

MSDE is not for upgrade.

you actually install MSDE on its own. (no gui, just the DB part of it)
you have to run it in CMD.

cd c:\MSDESP4Folder\MSDE
setup INSTANCENAME="MIR" SECURITYMODE=SQL SAPWD="SAPASS" /L*v C:\MSDELog.log

it will install a new instance of mssql_mir (msde)

you have to try... I don't remember if it worked for me last time.
