Read the Government’s response

We are pleased to tell you that there is no truth in claims that the Government is planning to introduce a requirement for entertainment venues to fit noise control devices.
Each Local Authority Licensing Authority considers every live music application on its merits, and decisions are made entirely by them. However, the Licensing Act 2003 does not allow mandatory conditions for live music to be imposed across the board. It would not be possible to impose such a condition without a change in the law and such a change is not, and never has been, on the Government’s agenda.
There is also no legal requirement under health and safety legislation for entertainment venues to have noise control devices fitted, nor is there any proposal.
The Government is acutely aware of the contribution that music makes to our culture and we remain committed to a vibrant and flourishing creative sector, of which live music plays an essential part.

Everything that I say makes sense, it's down to the indervidual on how they take the perseption of waht I say.

Though on a good note, smoking in pubs will be legal again by 2012

they always said 'smoking in pubs is never going to be allowed again, so get used to it'

I hate not smoking in pubs, But cant stand it in clubs.

I hardly smoke when I'm round town, Simply because I'm having too much of a skank to smoke.

But when I'm in a pub having a bevvy, Then yeah, Smoking rocks.

Goverment have lost so far 30% revenue from alchol sales within licensed premises, its predicted that by 2011 they will lose upto 70% revenue due to premises being closed by the brewery.

Due to the predicted loss, if it continues and they lose more than 50% in revenue it will force the goverment to rethink the issue of no smoking n licesed premises and by 2012 ether the smkoing ban will have been lifted or a smoking license will be introduced for licensed premises.

@Those that would be against this.

I for god hope that they do re-intorduce smokng on licensed premises, me and my friends don't go out any more at weekends due to the stench that you smell in pubs and clubs. It's not bad enough having to smell the stench of stale beer in the carpets, but the smell of BO and the fact you notice the sticky floors more puts us off.

We would rather smell of cigrate smoke, than have to put up with the stench you leave a pub/club in now. YUKK.....................

Mapa have right with smoking in pubs ( here in germany they also discuss to allow it again.) they lost much money after they said its forbidden the german administrativ also see that privat pubs (clubs with a membercard still is a hole in the licens and its still allowed to smoke in privat clubs) so in berlin as example the big coffee´s and other change there way of rights and be a club now. i hear also that administartiv from germany will change this back so we will see ( but from my opinion it was better to eat a small bit drink a nice coffee to it and smoke at the end for a total relaxing situation :) )
