strange connection issues.

my computer was working fine untill we bought a second pc.

when either pc is switched on on its own everything runs fine (can view websites/play mir etc etc)

if both pc's are switched on, initialy after switching on the computers they can access our homepage, and can enter mir together, however if one of us lags out 90% of the time we have to restart the pc thats lagged out. Also 90% of the time the internet will not work when both computers are on (on my pc it gives a dodgy ''connection timed out'' message, on the other pc it does the ''page cannot be displayed'') Although we can both be in mir together (obviously connected to the internet) we cannot alt and tab to go on any websites. We never lag ingame, and if one pc is on our download speeds are fine.

Also when we turn both the pc's on we get an error message saying ''duplicate name exists on network''

We are using a crappy free netgear router that came with our internet package months ago

On this pc i cannot use ctlr,alt,delete to see the task manager, it says the administartor has disabled it - even though all users are admins.

We are using windows xp if thats any help. And have 20 meg BB

Really bugging me because we can play mir together fine if we restart our pc's if one of us lags out.

you could try changing one of the computers names to somthing else.

Right click 'My Computer' then select 'Properties'
Click the 'Computer Name' tab
Click the 'Change' button
Change the computers name in the first text box, Make sure its unique, e.g. Computer1 or Computer2
Click 'OK' and click 'OK' again to apply the settings.

it sounds a virus or some spyware, take any good antivir for free.. try avira or AntiVir ;P and scan pc for viruses.. it can get lagged cause of spywares .. your comp infected can be use for attack lol :P

This pc was a fresh xp install with nothing on other than mir lol - the only website's i use are lomcn and extreme forums, surely i cant get virus's from these?

Nope neither have vista, both are windows xp.

if XP is fresh, u must update with all updates from MS, cause fresh have injections and bugs to infect your computer ;P

sounds like a trojan, i had this same problem, i downloaded a fake activex control at the top of my browser while surfing the net and thought nothing of it... things started to go a bit weird, couldn't put my finger on it just weird errors etc and my task manager wouldn't work. Reformat and all fixed.
