Good guys,
I posted in the chat section because I wanted to share with you a story, my story on real events.
I am a widower of Norway and in June 2005 had undergone a major economic crisis, for which banks were going to seize my house and leave me and my children on the street. In these times there was no work for anyone, I worked in a bar at night having to clean up by 500 Euros per month, and with this salary could not get out of this. I had the feeling that he could not let my children live on the streets even if weeks, needed money fast.
One day my hard situation had commented to my neighbor, who had a computer store, he informed me that there was a game, Legend of Mir 3. I had no other than to try to devote myself to create and implement grants and with the help of this forum and my neighbor, I did, everything was going well, people played and donated, in a few months I pay half of what they owed to the bank and you could stay in my home without fear of anything. Coming out of this situation I gave my server to my neighbor, because I could not live this life.
I am currently living in my home with my kids, and I feel a great relief and a large aggradation all the people of this forum, because I used to come here, to look at the form he did not know the game. I must say thanks to all: mapadale, twister, Ashran, ale7k, azura ... etc.
It is a fact, and I'm really grateful. You are really great and you doing wonders for this to succeed.

It's good to hear that some good comes from the time we spend here helping others.

Nice story, Can i ask how much your debt was and how long you ran this server for and is your neighbour still running the server to this day? Also what was the average user ****?

I know I'm going to look abit 'harsh' here but this is the reason I don't like donation server's you get donations to cover the cost's of running the server (or so people say, which prove's it's all a bunch of lies.) but yet everyone who does the donation system are actually in it for the money, I mean no offence to you or your family but that isn't what donations are 'apparently' about.

Apart from that count yourself lucky there's people willing to help around here.

You can hate me all you like if none of you agree.

I'm kind of on the same lines as you hence my "errrmmm" (my cowardice to speak out) post, there are a few things I find confusing. (linked to Zen2 post).

As your story suggests this must have been a very serious debt problem of large amounts of money which I'd have thought some Mir donations would make little difference to. Also isn't the extra income illegal? lol

Hello fellow Norwegian (of birth) btw :)

I don't think if you're heavily in debt and desperately trying to stay aloft for the sake of yourself and your children, you would risk a prison sentence by shafting the tax man :), especially as the Bank can ask for proof of where the money has come from (depending on the amount of money involved, £10k+).

@ Madman: excuse me I have not posted for you to be nasty to me.
@ Zen2: the server was called''April''Kingdoms, which had started passing me by several cyber, asking the owners to let me install on their PCs. I think that right now, my neighbor has closed, but years ago.

There are so many servers that have donated and do not pay taxes, I can not count them. In my case, I've been lucky that people donate. With this money, I was able to pay food, electricity, water, and other expenses of every day. While trying to match the debt for the bank to see that I am paying, I had found a job conditions. If I had another urgent remedy or at least make money until you have a job conditions had not put donations.
Provided that donations be applied as needed, without any abuse, are legal. That I think in my case.

lol you should be banned tbh, this topic goes against all of lomcn's rules about donations.

you've all been trolled by someone on benefits living in a council flat/house somewhere in the uk.

and even IF your circumstances was true, if you can put all that time into making a mir server, you could of easily gone out and found a 2nd job with some determination.

terrible parent, relying on donations from a private server to feed your family and cover your debts... just terrible.

"if you cant afford to look after kids, KEEP IT IN YOUR PANTS" you've made me feel like Jeremy kyle now, damn you.

Mask that's the stupidest thing I've heard. How does anybody know what kind of financial future they are in for.

So a couple who have a good job who are in a good financial place have a child but a few years later they loose their jobs. That makes them bad parents??

Open your eyes mate.

what makes them bad parents is using a private server as a main source of income for the welfare of their children. relying on something which isnt certain to survive, instead of getting off their lazy ass and do something about it.

either way they should be banned, as the rules are donations are not for real life benefit, you cant have rules for some and different rules for others.

btw the last line was a quote from Jeremy kyle ;)

Maybe that was their only choice, I know everyone on here would do the same thing if it was to secure their childrens future.

most would see getting another job 100x more important ;) having a secure salary, rather than becoming a charity case for titbits, and never knowing if you will scrap enough together from week to week.

thats my opinion on it.

im done here.

Or maybe it was the only option, jobs arnt the easiest things to find, there's always circumstances we know nothing about so to judge would be wrong.

And why ban her/him ? Did/is the server advertised on here and it's not even up now so what's the big deal?
