This laptop pretty newish, i started using it around 2weeks ago for games and everything ran fine until now, i keep getting frozed and turning the screen black or grey, it's random.
I been playing Genesis A.D and they have a setting to enable VertSync which is ment to stay at a fps at 60 i THINK and when i enable this i never get this problem but i lagg like hell with it on.

Running Windows 7 and my specs are..

AMD Athlon(tm) II Dual-Core M320 (2CPUs), ~2.1GHz
4096MB Ram
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200

All my drivers are fully updated, so is Windows, no spyware or Virus's, laptop fully cleaned up.

I searched all over and found something about the Black screen of death so i tried that but it never fixed my problem.

Can anyone shine some light on this? am new to WIN7 and laptops, not to mention i not used ATI for years.

Sorry for double post but this guy had the same problem and it fixed it which cought my eye.

install the version 10.8 of the video drivers, but there were still my problem
continue installing the directx version 11, but the problem remained unchanged.
finally update my audio driver and WIFI driver. and finally this was resolved, the driver of the wireless network was a day, so the main problem is a conflict devia audio with the video that caused the failure.

Now when the black screen problem started happening to me i checked for driver updates and the only 2 drivers that i could update was Audio driver and WIFI wireless driver which what the guy mentiones above but that never fixed my problem, so could it still possibly be my audio driver? i remember messing around with the sound settings because i was recording and i had problems with mic within the recording so i changed some stuff around but i forgot what lol and this was before the black screen started.

Anyone know what i should do? i think i may re-install the sound driver to see if that helps.

Try downgrading the driver for the g/card - As this was a great fix for most Nvidia problems with latest drivers.

I thought of that but if i did that then it would go back to the driver were it all started, i just changed my driver to HDMI driver so going to see if it works with this.

This is why you need the driver before that, not the driver that has caused the issue.

No windows updates shouldn't effect the graphic drivers

Ok i roleback the sound drivers and re-install the display drivers (Graphics Card) and had no effect.

So those drivers now are the way i had it at the start so must be something eles.

This setting fix's my problem when i play Genesis AD but i lagg with it, i never had a problem like this so i don't really know were to start googling this, any ideas?.

remove all the drivers for lan audio and graphics from device manager then reboot.

Failing that do a restore to back when it worked.

Tried everything now and nothing seems to have fixed it, might just be a overheating problem, just tried it with Call of duty single player and getting the same result. Treating myself to a new pc after new year so nevermind, thaks for the suggestions anyway.

Well i fixed this problem now, i did a full scan with Microsoft Security Essentials and it picked up bad files from Java, i removed them and uninstall Java and it worked. I also remember updating Java just before this happend, pop up on icon bar told me to update Java so i did and bla.
