Seems to be a few decent deals out there at the moment.

The only thing I'm not sure about is the Graphics. Now some just say "Intel HD Gaming Graphics" which I assume is just onboard graphics.

Some say 1GB Nvidia GT 525M Dedicated.

Are any of these decent enough to play some decent games? I'm not speaking about anything too extreme, but what about World of Warcraft? Even though I don't play it anymore, them graphics would be a decent benchmark for me!

Seen this Dell XPS for £599
I5 2410M
4GB RAM
Nvidia 1gb GT 525M GCard

Also at Tesco this Acer - http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.212-9810.aspx

They any good?

Not a massive fan of Dell personally, but we're working on getting a partner discount for all staff with our company at Dell, so will see what discount we can get.

Performance

The gaming performance of the GT 525M is similar to the GT 425M as the clock rate differs only by 7%. Therefore, the gaming performance of the GT 525M is sufficient for medium detail settings in modern games like Battlefield Bad Company 2. Less demanding games should run in high detail settings. The best resolution to choose is about 1360x768 due to the limited performance. Benchmarks and comparison charts on the 3D performance can be found below (as soon as we collect benchmarks) or on the GT 425M page.

4Gb Ram, what DDR is it?

And about I5, not sure. Is it any good? Got a clue?

That Acer looks better honestly.

6GB ram , DDR 3 Graphic Card 540M

Call of Duty: Black Ops and StarCraft 2 ran fluently in high details and 1360x768. More gaming benchmarks can be found in the lower section of this page.

This for 540M

If the discount isn't that big i would choose the second one. I mean it has 6GB DDR3 and Graphic 540M.

Also deppends how good BF 2 is lol (graphic) as i didn't play it. So compare that to SC2 or COD:Black Ops and you have the answer.

The tesco laptop looks a bargain. Cheapest i can find that anywhere else is 50 quid more expensive, and for spec for same price the closest i can come is in a samsung with a 1gb 520M graphics card.

My opinion is definately get that. Great screens on Acer too.

*spit* hate Samsung laptops.

Use them at work. Cheap, tacky things.

Aye i brought a samsung hd tv, after 14 months it wouldn't turn on so searched google and lots of people had the same issue and found out they put cheap capacerters in them (which don't cost much) any ways fixed it myself buying some good ones on ebay for £1.95 and a soldering iron, never buying anything to do with samsung again!

OT: i'd go with the acer laptop, they are very good even the cheap ranges seem to last.

Funny, I read a similar thing over on another forum, about some guy having to fix a Samsung TV him self!

Our company don't realise buying Samsung laptops at £250 and having to replace them after about a year is worse than paying a few hundered more for a business laptop (Like Lenovo) and replace them every 2-3 years.

Dell outlet website. I got my XPS17 there for £489 which included delivery, for the following spec:

i5 2410M
Geforce GT550M 1gb
4gb DDR3
500GB Hard Drive
17" screen (1600x900)

excellent deal, if you ask me.

Can get that same Acer, same processor and Gcard with only 3GB RAM and less HDD (640GB rather than 750).
£499 instead of £599
Can buy 4GB DDR3 RAM for about £30... Hmmm might do that instead.

that thing is bad ass. where's the price though

You don't wanna know mate.

They did a whole shenanigans about it entitled "PC GAMING IS NOT DEAD"... turned out they're releasing an overpriced laptop.

It'll retail at $2800.

If I was to stretch my budget, say to around £800ish, could anyone find me better than that Acer?

I personally can't, or if I do, it's simply just for a bit more memory, and I'm not paying £200+ more for an extra 2gig memory and 100gig more HDD space lol.
