I keep getting this error after losing connection last night before the update, I was able to download the update but could never get passed the "Connecting" part, where it seems like Login Gate would be down (But knew it was up since friends were on). Tried deleting everything and reinstalling (several times now) and now it will not update the client and keep getting the above error.

Any help would be great as I am stumped, was playing fine for days and now this... (Sad Panda)

Also I apologize if my comments seemed "dickish" or whatever, I was tired and cranky and annoyed. However no excuse for my conduct so please enjoy this smiley trying to lick you. :P

Ran it as Admin, changed the compatibility to different SP of different variations of windows, nothing seems to be working. What pisses me off is the fact I did nothing, my pc has not installed or updated anything and this happens, one minute playing happily next am sitting here ready to cuss out this god forsaken game for the last ****ing time.

I don't seem to have mir2.dat anywhere in my folder, what the hell I just extracted this from the setup.exe that is in the top mirror.

EDIT : On inspection with what had been extracted it only seemed to be just under 3GB's worth, normal folder is over 5GB's... Oh the joys, am bout to say screw computer gaming, am going back to play outside, simpler times... Least then **** don't break for no explicable reason.

The installer (or archive really) that you originally downloaded... What size is it?

What are you using to install/extract it?

Where are you extracting it to?

Are you extracting with admin rights?

What are you using to install/extract it? (Was just using the application as it came (right now extracting with winRAR to test))

Where are you extracting it to? (Desktop, C: , C:Users/KivE/ , C:Games)

Are you extracting with admin rights? (Trying the above with full admin rights checked and have set admin rights during other extractions)

EDIT: Update... I went and got a fully updated copy of the client from my friend and still getting the same error, even renaming the Mir2.dat to exe lets me into the "connecting phase" but it just times out as if login-gate is down.

An update into my situation... I did a whole format of my computer, reinstalled everything etc etc and still getting this problem, even at one point came up with hundreds and hundreds of error boxes saying Violation error at such and such location over and over for what seems like would be eternity.

This is in my Debug! log, not sure if that helps trying to identify my problem.

24 hours to go and am done with this server to be honest. Cost me everything on my HDD and still not working...

No one else is experiencing this issue, so its not the servers problem, rather your environment.

Can you paste the contents of your mir2.ini file?

Seeing as this happens after a full format have you fully updated your DirectX, graphics drivers and sound drivers?

*Resist... Urge... To be cheeky...* Ahhh, resisted... Yes of course my drivers are up to date after I formatted. You gotta remember this problem happened whilst I was on the server, lagged out and then got errors. One of my mates has the exact same PC (Am not talking slightly the same, am talking the exact same hardware), we both have the same Drivers up to date etc and he is able to play no problems. Guess Mir just picked me to screw with as per usual. If it can go wrong, it usually does. And it's just for me, whoopee.

I might even try sort a new router to test that in more depth.

Oh yeah, I also try launch the server every day or two just to see if magically the error that appeared from nowhere has ****ed off... But sadly nope, nothing.

Have you tried running in a VM? Might be worth giving it ago?

It's not uncommon for people to format and then not fully update DX, that's why I asked, it's one of the most common causes of this error. Other causes are graphics/sound drivers, viruses and other things that are writing to memory they shouldn't be.

Unless you did a full clone of your HDD then your computers aren't the same so it's stupid to assume that your friends PC has any bearing on anything except similar hardware (yours could still be faulty).

You seem to know everything though so it's obviously a problem with the client.(Hint : This seems very unlikely, I'd try Sams suggestion)

Very true, I have made that mistake once and looked like a fool... Ok twice, but shh at least I not made that mistake last Format, only the format before that lol.

I got more ports forwarded and opened other techy thingys and now am able to establish a connection with the server (I updated my client) but after that I got "access denied" error and the following 10 billion spam boxes of an "access violation" currently re-installing the client and going to try again. Worst comes to it I'll just try re-downloading the client for the third time.

@ Sam, I will try that if all else fails, right now it seems to have been my router hog of a brother being a complete dick and lying to me for over a week about the setup of the router. Only occurred to me it could be the router due to a few of my friends and I cannot connect with each other (or more importantly I can't connect to them) on the PS3, I thought it was a hosting problem with Borderlands 2 but it goes beyond that where I actually get booted from games my friends join. Tested this on GTA 4, he joins I get booted... I join he gets booted. Trying to get a hold of him to test.

Right now, it is taking so much restraint to stop myself from smashing my brothers face in, destroying his computer and then breaking every CD, DVD and game he owns over his face. (He has thousands of dvds and games, I would be there for almost a week)

EDIT : Am online finally. Least we know what these errors mean, they mean your router controller may be toying with your emotions... And his life.
