Only thing is if people are going to start donating, there going to want to see an active team or at least someone active and replying etc.

Why do you Fierery and others want the server files released? Like someone said it just means 6 servers instead of one. If all you people pushing for release would then concentrate on new content and give your work to Sam then yes release the files. That isnt what will happen is it?I'm glad to see that the server files are finally being set for release after months of delay.
But sad to see the server go at the same time due to its high demanding user-count.
LOMCN have been needing a decent new set of files for a while, and this release may just give mir that bit of spirit back that it has been
lacking in for the past 6-7 years.
Sounds like somebody is angry :@:Why do you Fierery and others want the server files released? Like someone said it just means 6 servers instead of one. What exactly are you all going to do with them when they are released?
.

Clearly you don't know how LOMCN works.
New files are found, translated/coding magic by admins/random visiters, and released on here.
Thats the idea.
(Atleast thats what I thought)

yea thats how lomcn works , thats why we end up with crap servers with a user count of 10.
nothing good ever comes from releasing the server files , FACT.
if people spent the time finding / coding / translating there own files , they could have a descent set of files but people just want it handed on a plate. If i was sam , id charge £500 for the files and hardware lock it to your computers id.

Locking them would be useless - if you've got the source you could simply remove/vchane the locks... Unless you're thinking of a compiled set only but then sam needs to compile a unique set for everyone? Then how do you dealt with bug repairs?I do agree. but locking the files to 1 PC would mean you would have to buy a dedi from day 1, if you loose/change dedi the files would become redundant and worthless.
I agree he must charge for these files. but i also agree the Source SHOULD! not be released..
The problem is the Chinese coming on here demanding all the help finding such files/sources and in the end they claim the work as theirs
Yeah but thats mir for you.
Euro went down, USA went down.
Most mir server went down, thats all in the fun of mir at the end of the day.
Everybody likes a change and never sticks to 1 released server.
The server files would never move on if they never went down in the first place.
Mir development wouldn't move on.
I agree with you daneo, the sourced should not be released.
Although I think they should be released to people who are willing to work on them, to develop 1 set of files.
Ace files are going to be the future of mir, so its worth the release of the files so people can get used to them, however: The source code should only be released to reliable people.
Yes, it is sad that Ace doesn't have a future, but then-again it was only released as a test server to start with.
It just goes to show how big of a potential these server files are going to have for future servers.
Release is a good thing.
Paying for the files would only be an option available to those who have it.People saying you should charge for a set of files are wrong to be fair. Not "ALL" Of us will use the files for a money greed. Especially me Because I think my connection/computer works fine just a few down times.
Maybe just give the files to people that has a good reputation on here?? Just a thought (+1 if you think so).
Anyways do what ever you like with the files. Unfortunately I have no ££ To even afford these files so If this does happen hopefully in near future after AceM2 has been soled and a new set of files are coming out.. It'll be FREE?

I couldn't agree more with this. The source not being release would be a bit silly and, as above, files will become stagnant if they cant be worked on, so I partly agree with you here, Perhaps the source could be kept private/partly closed with access/copies given to only those who are willing to help the community as a whole and can be trusted not to stick them all over the web????
Paying for the files would only be an option available to those who have it.
The files come free anyway, its the translating & additional extras that would cost the money.
However if it did get to the point where people had to pay for files, there would only be 1-2 ace servers online at the very most.
Although I don't think that LOMCN would put a fee on a free set of files unless necessary.
I couldn't agree more with this.
Whether Sam releases them for free or charge for them. They will be a welcomed set of files to the community but i like the idea of a certain amount of trusted members to push these files far and beyond.Yer release the file is best option but don't release source (Even though i'd never want it to develop a private server).
