just open a gameshop sell exp 1.5 hard torch skill torch etc
This should never be done, don't even need to explain why.

If I am reading Sam's post correctly he just means he will be maintaining and improving Ace M2 and the server will stay up with the future improvements pending hosting. So if money is donated or free hosting is found (combie possibly?) then the server will continue as it has been.
Think so, just won't be 2 weekly reboots etc as they'd be focusing on the files so would only reboot when they add things to test?

I'd also like to know, if there will be new 40-50+ caves/leveling grounds put in, or just thing's like sin & quests etc.

Just spoke with Milo (very briefly) and the server costs:
$130
£81.25
96.22 Euro

Like I said I can open a gameshop and do small things... I think the GS needs coding though.

yea exp pots, drop boosters etc are a server killer for me and it will become pay to win. I think a vip system would be a good money raiser, small fee say 5er a month for just little things such as mounts, skins, hairstyles, torches etc. That way more incentive for ppl to donate and keeps it fair

Hi Sam

Don't you think a game shop is a bad idea? Too biased towards people who are prepared to spend, I think a VIP membership idea would be preferable. Even if you have £4 a month, special feature like premium name or something you only need 20 subscribers out of 200+ per month? This server is already remarkably fair and has no money bias, surely it's a good idea to keep an element of this?

If the game shop was things like, change of gender/skins/name etc etc it wouldn't really make a difference in game, so wouldn't really be a problem.

Agree with you - hairstyle, different mount appearance/extra mount health or some such? Maybe infinite free torch that covers whole screen? That kind of thing.

Costs sound very attainable to be covered, there are hundreds of players atm.

You guys think that even buffs that come with a negative side are hard on the game?

Also as long as buffs aren't required and are still attainable by everyone whether its real money or ingame gold there is no disadvantage.

Edit: Even in usamir there were only a few things that made a negative impact. If people couldn't make gold to trade for buffs and hard torches etc, it wasn't the games fault it was that they were making poor choices or were plain poor players.

No idea what the hell that last post meant, but mir usa was a clear failure for many reasons. One of the main being the ridiculous potcash system which made it an credit card war

The major things that are bad from gameshops:

Items. Whether directly or through lottery items
hardtorches - items never wore out
very large buffs that impacted gameplay via stats like dc/mc/sc where you cannot compete with someone using the buffs

As long as smaller buffs (or buffs with negative sides) are all accessible through trade or ingame gold there is no disadvantage to anyone.

Your perspective seems to be different and you do not make any points on anything besides a negative opinion. Try to explain yourself or your just wasting peoples time and making useless posts that people have to slog through.

Usa was also not a failure, it had the largest userbase since euro by leaps and bounds. Not only that, it had far far better uptime than euro, less gamebreaking bugs, less cheating, etc. Rose colored glasses for Euro does not make a different server a failure. We've had huge bugs here to but life in mir goes on.

I simply do not understand your original post comments, e.g. "You guys think that even buffs that come with a negative side are hard on the game?"

I have explained my suggestions clearly, and that I am against any kind of exp boost/damage boost/anything of that kind and feel people would donate for lesser features such as fancy horse that gives light / special name / etc and I disagree and think gamepot usa was awful as it allowed someone to join, pay £10 and instantly have 10 mill ingame gold. Monthly subscription/donation does not allow this, I feel the same way about your post as you mine so...? Stalemate.

Don't close the server that price is nothing i'm sure people will cover it, open a shop with vip 10% exp 20quid a month, sex change 20 quid some basic +2 stat torches or something maybe a few items to get people to buy maybe some skills like Curse/FF/rage for £50 quid as they are stupidly rare and i'm sure this will cover costs for 6 months atleast within the first week.

I'm glad to see that the server files are finally being set for release after months of delay.
But sad to see the server go at the same time due to its high demanding user-count.

LOMCN have been needing a decent new set of files for a while, and this release may just give mir that bit of spirit back that it has been
lacking in for the past 6-7 years.

You can join here and buy what you want as well...It wasn't any different in euro either...It just wasn't supported by an ingame interface where the money goes to where it should. To the people who put time and effort into developing, hosting and running the server.

As far as buffs etc, what effect do you feel that a 10% exp boost that also come with a 50% mob health/damage/etc increase will have? Or 100% exp and 500% stats.

Monthly subscription is not for me unfortunately. I much prefer to put in money when I'm playing instead of being locked into a timeframe.

Edit: Everyone agrees on the cosmetic gameshop at the least which is great and will definitely keep things running.

I'm happy, this server is superior to any that come before it in my opinion. Samuel/anyone else involved have done a great job in getting this far. I do get the impression Samuel is tired of it and not interested in continuing though?

I don't think regular updates are necessary as such (euro, anyone? lol), but obviously the server owner/coder needs to have some interest. He has previously mentioned this was only ever a temporary project/hobby but people have grown attached as it's a very good server, and very reliable.

We need Samuel to declare his intentions really, as he's the boss :)

Either way, thanks so far, I for one have really enjoyed it.

(I've even gone from hating market to loving it - don't bring back TM!)

If a gameshop is implemented you guys are going to expect more from a 1 man team, regular updates etc, etc and from one person your asking to much. Sam needs a team behind him to do this or just donate because you enjoy and want the server to stay up.

Ps: i would like to see the files released, an empty or basic envir would be fine. People say it will do more harm than good, how so ? because you feel the server will be empty ? surely if they like the server that much they would stay anyways.

Yeah done a good job, and updates and bug fixes are actually quite timely. People will never be satisfied, even if it comes every day, yet we played euro with sometimes a year between anything lol.

If a gameshop is added so be it... but I dont like the idea of a server taking cash for items of any sort. Also if you start taking in cash dont you just open yourself up to even more legal problems?

Also, when people start giving you cash they expect more(I may be wrong but I doubt this very much).... not gonna happen as team are stretched for time as it is.... Hence why I offer to host for free.

I'd like to see the server continue as is, well with the obvious updates and fixes being applied with time :P, as the files are good and solid with a large community playing it to make the work and time put into it worth it.

This sounds great combie. I agree that items (and anything large impact) should not be in gameshops and you may be right that donations might increase users voracious appetites. I do believe that the time and effort put in should be rewarded and that a gameshop is a good way to say thankyou.

One thing to note is that it doesn't matter what game out there, the discussion forums are packed with attention seekers, negative and selfish people regardless on if the game is provided free or for money.

Silly little things that will not effect game too much which you can make cash for dedi would be alright. Such as,

-Teleport to caves
-Sex change
-hair change
-global shouts
-Rent a skill neck (maybe)
-Peddler torch
-String (Maybe)
-Pick Axe with aspeed (maybe)
-Different horses/or other types of animals

Just a few ideas thrown out there

Edit: From Pot Cash that is
