Progress Update - Mid day tomorrow

Hey All,

As many of you may already know, our grand opening was ruined by a malicious attacker.

Myself and Hazuki have been in constant contact with the dedicated server provider and we are both in agreement that they have handled this very poorly.

They have finally confirmed that they have locked our access (nulled our IP) until Monday the earliest and are refusing to provide any information/diagnostics with regards to this incident. They are also refusing to provide us with another IP so we can log on and get a backup of the latest databases.

So, in the future I would like you all to disregard Future Hosting as a possible dedicated server provider, as they were terrible...

However,

We have migrated the server to a new host, Mircosoft Azure (I believe xbox live use these servers to run COD/Battlefield games as well as banking solutions...), we need to run stress tests and monitor as to whether or not they are going to be a suitable host for our environment.

Not going to give an ETA (as always) in case we hit delays, but, I will say that we are feeling far more positive here in Chronicles HQ.

If they use these servers to run CoD/Battlefield, surly there be no problem running a Mir server lol :P

But nice work guys keep at it! Is there a slight possibility it could be late this afternoon opening?

Battlefield is on EA's servers - Don't blame MS for those - but yeah Xbox Live runs on Azure & as will future next-gen games, including Titanfall.

(Also Office 365, Hotmail, Bing, and a few 100,000 other private big companies - BMW / Toyota etc)

Good to know. As your databases seem stuck at the moment will we have to re-secure our accounts & character names?

I'm fine with either, I wouldn't be so stupid to not have a few variations of my name to choose from.

Confuesing **** init :S what's in the database? Char names/levels? If that's all there is then just wipe it and everyone will have an even playing field to get there names etc?? A lot of people was at work n **** when you opened the char selection and that's was totally unfair on those who have had there names stolen... Altho I was lucky enough to get me bro to make mine I just feel for the people that didn't stand a chance..

Thanks for the update, hopefully be sorted sooner rather than later, having a quiet weekend to save money and hoping i had something to do! slightly gutted oh well! Fresh air it is then.

In all honesty the only db that was backed up was the character db, and as people had their names trolled and we got about 60 seconds of play, I am not to worried about loosing those... I am working as fast as I can to get something up asap...

I don't know if its worth mentioning but more than a few people during those 60 seconds logged in without wooden swords / base dresses, if that was due to the ddos or a bug (probably for the former), but if it's something easily fixable on your end.
