So, the last thing that was said was...

Getting it working will take a recode, so it will be taking me away from everything else to fix this, so I can then completely throw it away, it would be a massive waste of time and resource for us... I know people are waiting for this, but at the moment it poses no real benefit/disadvantage to fix this over actual bugs that are exploitable/higher in the priority list.

Sam

FYI Sam, if you wasn't aware - we had a SW last night .. was kind of unexpected. It seemed to work with no bugs, lasted 1 hour, although there was only 1 'take' of the wall - So not sure if that bit is working as it should.

Can I ask what the plan is? Will it be left as is so people can submit? Will it be taken off the current guild again?

Thanks

I wondered how long it would be before the crying thread appears..

Nobody knew the war was going to start.
Nobody had an unfair advantage
You said yourself, the war ran smoothly without any bugs/glitches

There's no need for the GM's to intervene here, Team need to just accept they got beat, fairly, submit a relic and see what happens next time

This is hardly a crying thread citrix you complete bell cheese. To me it looks like he's asking for clarification on what the plan for sw war is (the big hint was where he actually says "can I ask what the plan is?" ;) ).

So why don't we keep this thread to what the OP is asking about. If you want to wave your e - peen about I think melkor kindly started a thread in the guild section for you guys x

It would be nice to see Sabuk wall as a main city on the server, this would then provide benefits such as money (or even a unique lvling area) to whoever owns the wall. Any players buying/selling/repairing within the wall will be contributing to the SW economy and therefore providing income for whoever owns SW, this would then make it more appealing and beneficial for guilds wanting to take the wall.
In my opinion, there has to be a drive/motivation behind wanting to take the wall, maybe it could be reputation based if that is preferred and guilds get points, at the end of the month points are accumulated and some kind of rewards are distributed? Just throwing some thoughts out there.

Also, it would be nice to see a different approach on the war itself, maybe a new way of winning (different games that Guild Leaders get to choose when they submit a war?) this could then offer the opportunity to use different tactics and skills.

I think I saw a developer post about how they are looking at ways of improving.. hopefully we'll see something in the near future.

So, in all honesty I was surprised this was broken as badly as it was in the first place, from the code, sw should start on time, should last an hour and the attacking guild should always have priority over taking sw... That being said, I can't say anything for certain as I have seen some very weird issues with SW.

My plan is to look into SW immediately (once we have fixed the small issues introduced in our last reboot)... This will put my current development plan for new content on hold, but it seems the demand for a working/fair SW is gaining higher and higher priority.

What this means in the long term is, SW is likely to be fixed sooner, however, newer content is likely to be pushed back/not make the current plan.

Great news!

So the question still remains - is SW being kept as is .. ie. Worthwhile us submitting a relic .. or will it be taken off the current holders again ?

So last night was a "test" war
There fore the wall should be taken from winning guild to give everyone time to prepare for a properly announced Sabuk EVENT celebration

Sam,

When making this decision - have you also considered the other 80% of people that play - and not just the 20% of vocal people on the forums ?

Do you consider walling up inside the palace fun? It's very outdated.

Would you not rather have a mass royal rumble on even terms where coordination and tactics come into play instead ?

As I have said before I was not at the war but can you categorically say that the war ran smoothly?
So you tested letting 1- 2 different guilds in to the palace alone to see if they could take the wall like team did?

From my understanding you all ran inside and stood still for an hour. doesn't sound like a thorough test to me...

From the screen shots of the war i have seen, 80% of the server were at the war.

Before, the issue appeared to be a small bug that could be fixed within an hour or 2 of going through the code. Indeed, this is what people thought it was. Now Sam is talking about completely reworking SW to fix this bug; pushing back current content that is allready being begged for.

The comments on reworking SW in the thread that were mentioned - were a view to reworking it in the 'future' - aka adding it to the wishlist. Not to be done at the cost of other updates.

I do agree it needs fixing, and sooner rather than later. My worry is that to please a minority, the majority is going to suffer with delayed content.

I see where you are coming from.

Personally, I'd rather see the content we have now being fixed, before new content is added with the potential to cause more problems that will then need to be fixed also

The "80%" (where'd you get this? I Saw about 100 different people at SW) that don't enjoy SW actually benefit from SW because absolutely everyone is fighting over it, leaving them some nice and easy bosses to kill without hindrance. :RpS_thumbup:

I'm trying to look at this form an inbiased perspective. Not everyone lives in Mir to kill bosses, so I try to judge on something NOT based on my own personal standpoint.

SW needs fixing. This is a fact i'm not disputing. All im asking is that before pushing new content back too far - the devs weigh up the demand for new stuff against the fix for SW. And no, a forum pole wont do it, as it'll be the same 20% of people who are the vocal ones, who tend to be the PVPers, on here voting.

I can see where you are coming form, and it is a valid standpoint. But try looking at it form a very casual gamers standpoint, who lives more for the social and fun 'play' side of it, as opposed to the obsessive boss hunting and PVP side of it.

If you read the post between the lines

"is you using a tactic that favours you fun"

"you should use this tactic that favours us instead"

You sit on the fence too much...

Personally id say work on a new SW, as any fixes applied to the current SW in the long run are a waste of time, and im sure more people would rather see a more fun and rewarding sw coming sooner, rather than being stuck with an unrewarding biased SW which is the current SW.

So you'd be happy us doing the same thing ? I doubt it.

Clutching at straws there mate - Seem to be going around in circles with this so I'll leave this be. Sam has already said he'll be changing SW so I for one can't wait until it's done and we can have a decent fight for once (hope you all turn up ;))
