Archer feels weak?

Hey guys, I've only really started playing today - haven't played Mir in years and when I played these new classes didn't exist so I jumped at the chance to try out the Archer.

I got to Level 32, but I can't help but feel weaker than pretty much everyone else around me. Around the lower levels I couldn't really even hit anything, some of the easiest enemies became a nightmare simply because of my chance to hit and it seemed like accuracy didn't even help.

Eventually this problem sorted itself as I got Perfect Aim to Level 3 and now I don't really miss anymore. However, when I finally got to a point where I could finally take on simple targets without too much trouble, I started noticing everyone around me luring hordes of enemies to kill and I just have nothing in my arsenal that can deal with groups of enemies.

I'm struggling to see what my role really is, I feel like Assassins can take down single targets much faster than I can, Warriors can soak up damage and take on groups, mages can have pets and destroy a screen full of enemies and Taoists can heal, have pets and use poisons to tackle big groups.

Also, I've had a few PVP encounters, mostly with Warriors, maybe I'm just not high enough Level yet, I'm not sure what Level they were, but wow - they can kill me in like 2-3 hits and theres not much I can do besides run for my life lol.

Also, for an Archer, a class that usually is light on their feet and first to the draw, what's up with all the cooldowns?! I'm already running for my life, I have no time to cast a spell to buff my attack speed or mana regen rate lol

Ice Shot works like 1/100 times I use it... Power Shot seems completely pointless, Decoy seems cool on paper, but at my level it simply fails on use... Honestly at this point it feels like I might aswell just remove all skills from hotkeys apart from Spirit Shot, it's the only one that seems to do anything useful :/

...I guess Rapid Shot is okay, but again, the huge cooldown and the start up animation means I use it very, very rarely.

Maybe some words of wisdom from fellow Archers? Is it just me? Is there much to look forward to? I really don't want to give up on this char >.<

Archer is anything but weak at the very early levels. Absolutely destroys any mobs in shop kit. Later on it may feel weak. but I've only got one to level 29 and it feels ****ing awesome compared to the others I have levelled.

Once you get static shot level 3, you'll start coming into your own element and will quickly destroy hordes of mobs.

Sadly Archers come into the game very late, a lot like wizzies, but at least archers can level pretty fast with static shot. ArrowBarrage is their primary burst spell (and an archer with 100+DC can pretty much 1shot any squishy class close up with this spell) that you'll enjoy a lot.

Piercing shot is also fantastic, it's like a much much stronger version of lightning, great for levelling and also extremely good for killing people.

In all honesty archers without "end game" DC 100+ are not worth playing as you will end up not being able to dent other classes in pvp. They have little ability to solo bosses and even in 100+DC they are better off in groups of 2 or 3 to nuke other classes.

The team have mentioned their intentions on reducing cooldowns by means of a passive skill, there are likley to be 1 or 2 "escape" tweaks.

One thing for certain, if you are not at the speed cap an archer is not for you, lots of players can 1 hit archers, if they are moving faster than you its game over.

Same can be said for the warrior class.

Aren't worth playing without "end game" max a.speed otherwise you'll never actually kill people or solo any decent bosses.

In fact the only 2 classes that aren't as kit reliant are sins and wizzies.

I agree that if you're not fast in-game there's absolutely no point playing an archer, as they're far too easily killed by the likes of shadow-step sins or FF wizzies or end-game warriors. They lack signifcant utility/escape spells needed in pvp, but the scary part about archers is when you put 3 or more of them together.

3 archers working together via comms is probably the scariest thing i've seen yet and possibly the best combo. But sadly majority of people prefer solo play, and this is where the archers weakness shows.

I've seen archers hit 600+ with AB
War 550 fs
Wiz 500 FF
sin..300/100
damage is pretty insane once levelled bud, keep at it

Archers are powerful, their skills hit hard, so they do not need any buff here.

Whens the last time you actually landed an ab on a moving target? ;)

Archers have amazing burst dmg with their crits. Tbh need to be rolled back to orig dmg and the extra bounces from static that were removed very early. Would improve archer qol greatly.
