Does anyone else/everyone else get the
"Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer"
every time you launch the chronicles exe?

I'm just looking at eliminating some things that may or may not have any bearing on speed. Could this be an administrator issue? even though its ticked to run as admin in properties I have had issues with permissions deleting certain files even though the account is an administrator account and sole account.
Do people turn off user account control settings?

That sounds like UAC (User Account Control) and is normal when you run any program as admin
I prob does not appear if you right click and select run as admin
