Run windows updates, Also try find your chipset drivers. Which will include most of the drivers for your laptop, Also try gettin the latest version of Direct X

Fair play mate it has been known people have edited thier ISO files to put thier drivers on there instead of loading them on there once its installed. Maybe thats along the lines of what you was thinking :)
Well post back here what the sticker says on the ram you was given which doesnt fit, Does it just say DDR or is it DDR 2 as both are different. You can get 1gb for cheaper than the price you mentioned above.
